IQVIA Stem Cell Center

In 2016 IQVIA (Formerly QuintilesIMS) and the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine (CIRM) entered into an agreement to provide end-to-end product development services to the Stem Cell industry. Under the agreement, IQVIA will build and operate a Stem Cell Center (SCC) to accelerate stem cell research and development by enabling access to the specialized expertise necessary to develop novel cell-based therapies. CIRM grantees can apply for consulting, regulatory, CMC support, preclinical research, and clinical trial services from the SCC to develop their therapies. SCC services also are available to non-CIRM grantees.

Building on IQVIA’s legacy as the world’s largest provider of product development and integrated healthcare services, the IQVIA SCC combines focused cellular therapy expertise and extensive drug development and commercialization experience of IQVIA and its partners to support all phases of the development program. The SCC accelerates stem cell development from candidate identification to market authorization by providing end-to-end strategic and operational services.

The Translating Center (TC) Director provides oversight and drives the strategic vision of the pre-clinical services offered by the Cell and Gene Therapy Center, including:

  • Drives TC strategic vision
  • Develops stem cell expertise within and thought leadership through the TC
  • Builds TC’s reputation and prestige within the industry
  • Responsible for overall business performance, including business development, operations, and governance
  • Refines TC business and operating model to meet CAGT strategic objectives
  • Refines business development strategy, service offerings, and revenue model to meet CAGT strategic objectives
  • Serves on the CAGT steering committee and other CIRM and CAGT governing bodies as TC representation
  • Leads communication and coordination between TC and broader IQVIA organization
  • Manages TC staff and oversees resource management for TC projects
  • Ensures timely compliance and financial reporting to CIRM and IQVIA
  • Manages TC’s knowledge management strategy

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Previous senior management experience running a business unit
  • Strong negotiating skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, managers and clients
  • Strong experience in clinical development strategy, planning, and execution
  • Strong subject matter expertise in stem cells and regenerative medicine
  • Previous experience developing early stage clinical products

 Minimum Required Education and Experience

  • PhD and 8+ years relevant experience; or Masters degree and 10+ years of relevant experience; or equivalent combination of education, training and experience
