Our goal is to contribute to the body of scientific evidence that allows medical practitioners to treat patients in the most effective way, and health systems to include as many patients as possible. We use data, collected for clinical (and other) purposes to answer research questions such as "which treatment works best in the real world, beyond the clinical trial setting?" The role of associate director of statistics will be a key role for our biometrics hub in Sofia. The ideal candidate will have :

Responsibilities:

  • Management of a team of biostatisticians in real world evidence
  • Conducting studies from start to finish
  • Protocol and statistical analysis plan development, informing data harmonization and integration, client discussions and consultancy, output interpretation, program strategy and management, and methodology and algorithm development.  
  • Analyse data from multiple primary data and secondary data sources (e.g., EMRs, PROs, eCRF, etc.),
  • Advise data management staff on database design, and critical data. 
  • Budget and timeline management of a project
  • Perform the review of RFPs, prepare proposal text and attend bid defense meetings.
  • Provide expert statistical input into and review of statistical deliverable (i.e. analysis plans, table shells, programming and table specifications, data review, tables, listings, figures and statistical sections for integrated reports) and data management deliverable (i.e. database design, validation checks and critical data).
  • Manage customer relationships.
  • Mentor and guide junior level and new staff.

Essential Work Experience, Qualifications And Knowledge:

  • MSc or PhD (or equivalent) in statistics, biostatistics, epidemiology or a related discipline
  • Significant leadership experience in biostatistics with the know how to meet timelines and project deliverables
  • Experience in analyzing data from prospective or retrospective epidemiological studies, including database analyses
  • Experience of managing a team of statistician and be able to drive a study from start to finish
  • Evidence of previous experience utilizing large-scale anonymous patient level retrospective healthcare databases populated with EMR data such as the CPRD or THIN​
  • Commitment to working collaboratively and effectively with people of other disciplines to accomplish goals
  • Good time management skills and program acumen, to contribute to multiple projects with competing timelines
  • CRO, pharmaceutical or academia background who is used to a fast-paced environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills (including presentation and PowerPoint skills)
  • Fluency in English (spoken and written)
