Senior Database Engineer

For our Commercial, Primary Intelligence (PI) portfolio, we are currently looking for a Senior Database Engineer based in Bonn who can join an exciting working environment in a dynamic and international atmosphere.

The role of the Senior Database Engineer is to design and develop processes and data flows within a wider platform architecture, all connected through various interfaces. The data are related to primary market research projects and sourced from multiple input channels and other components.

Your tasks

  • You are working closely together on a day-to-day basis with your colleagues in Bonn and Bangalore in a team of 8, being part of a wider PI development group spread across multiple European and Indian locations,
  • Assess and develop requirements coming from various stakeholders like production teams, client service, business owners and other development teams within the IQVIA organization; provide effort estimates and deliver in time and budget,
  • In this experienced role you will question solutions, provide alternative and innovative ideas, and guide and lead members with less expertise to work effective,
  • Fully understand specific client business requirements and issues, in order to effectively develop and communicate the appropriate solution,
  • Develop SQL based solutions end-to-end, identify performance issues and optimize data flows and data handling proactively,
  • Become an SME for all developments around the component, understand the wider impact of requirements and side effects, guide and consult also the business and user groups.

Your Profile

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent),
  • Several years of relevant experience in SQL development and warehousing with databases like Oracle or DB2,
  • Excellent knowledge in SQL, stored procedures, performance optimization and ETL and warehousing concepts,
  • Very good knowledge of Unix/Linux shell scripting,
  • Ability to think strategically and tactically,
  • Good presentation skills,
  • Fluent oral and written skills in English, good knowledge of German preferred.
