Senior Consultant, Advanced Analytics - the role:

Under broad guidance from his/her manager, the incumbent executes and provides expertise in statistical methodologies, advanced analytics and data science standards and best practices to assigned projects to maximize insights provided to our clients in various areas such as Commercial Effectiveness, Patients Analytics, and Real-World Analytics Solutions



What you'll be doing:

Project responsibilities:

  • Provides expertise in designing statistical methodologies and project execution support for standard research projects and custom studies leveraging data science and machine learning techniques
  • While providing project support in the delivery of research activities and custom studies:
    • Defines statistical design and research protocol to meet client information needs
    • Executes, assists and guides other members of the team to conduct and validate statistical analyses, derive business insights, and lead the preparation of written summaries of study results, following regular interaction with his manager.
    • Prepares the implementation of tactical study plans to answer business questions and identify new business opportunities, performs required analytics, and provide study insights in the form of convincing presentations.
    • Participates in selecting the appropriate statistical methodology to be used in the development and launch of new offerings, including the design, development, and documentation of proofs of concept.
    • Independently identifies the need to reach out to other colleagues and subject matter experts to develop research plans, identifying appropriate data sources and delivery options in meeting client information needs.
    • Derives conclusions from assigned complex studies and investigations, prepares written summaries and reports study results with proper data visualization expertise under minimal supervision.
  • Works on projects of complex scope within defined procedures and practices

Project management and client liaison responsibilities

  • Acts as single point of contact for IQVIA clients’ teams, and can interact directly with internal and external clients when required
  • Proactively manages own project timelines, risks and challenges. Works out mitigation alternatives with the team under minimum supervision.
  • Can handle multiple projects, and manages priorities accordingly
  • Develops project plan of moderate scope
  • Participates to internal cross-functional meetings of complex scope with other members of the IQVIA team, and provides critical insights
  • Develops and maintains relationships with key cross-functional stakeholders, including IQVIA global analytical team to access incremental support and analytical innovations

Internal initiatives

  • Drives internal initiatives e.g. knowledge sharing to a moderate extent
  • Supports senior staff on specific business initiatives as required
  • Provides on-the-job coaching and knowledge sharing to more junior staff when appropriate


What we're looking for:

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s/Ph.D. degree or equivalent in Statistics, Data Science, Epidemiology, Health Economics or related field with a strong focus on quantitative analysis, including an acceptable number of courses in statistical methods and data science theory, with a minimum of 3-5 years for MSc. /Ph.D. and 7 years for BSc. of relevant experience with large databases and systems
  • Excellent understanding and experience of classical machine learning and deep learning methods
  • Knowledge of Python (or R), SQL and big data tools such as Cloudera, Spark and Hadoop
  • Experience of consulting and writing research protocols with a focus on health and life science projects
  • Proven ability to carry out moderate to complex level analyses and information gathering related to commercial effectiveness solutions and patient-level studies, using various sources of health-related information (sales, prescriptions, anonymous health records)
  • Proven ability to program statistical methodologies according to specifications, with emphasis on business insights, quality control, testing, and advanced analytics.
  • Good project management skills and consultative mindset
