IQVIA™ Real-World Evidence (RWE) is a fast-growing and highly successful business - focused upon delivering tangible business results to our clients who are the decision-makers and business managers of international pharmaceutical and healthcare organizations.

IQVIA™ has been rapidly expanding its global presence in an emerging area of client need, real-world evidence. The Real-World Evidence Solutions team is focused on expanding IQVIA™ information, technology & services to a broader set of healthcare stakeholders, with a particular focus on enabling pharmaceutical manufacturers to source, integrate and manage anonymous patient-level data, create evidence platforms to draw insights from the data for commercial and medical-scientific purposes. The RWE Global Oncology team, has primary responsibility for curating anonymous patient-level data for a wide array of tumors on a global scale, analyzing the data and providing insights to oncology drug manufacturers.

The Role
A vacancy has arisen for a Product Director within Global Oncology.

The role has responsibility for providing global product management for the current oncology RWE portfolio as well as future product additions, refinements and enhancements. This also includes our oncology production strategy, identifying opportunities to automate service activities and improve efficiencies in panel and cost management. The Global Product Director will be essential in defining and implementing our global strategy in Oncology. He/she will lead a small team of product managers and work closely with oncology offering owners in different geographies.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Secures funding for developing new assets, to accelerate portfolio expansion and market potential. Makes trade-offs within and across business units to ensure maximum profitability and customer satisfaction. Helps set IQVIA™ strategic directions into offering management decisions within and across countries. Approves plans and secures funding for new market opportunities. Makes recommendations regarding organizational structure or process change to maximize service and delivery.
  • Leads the development of the portfolio of offerings within global oncology. Leads cross functional teams to ensure that the offerings meet customer needs, are economically and technically viable.
  • Approves research plans to ensure output will fulfill research objectives and coaches others on market analytic best practices. Endorses conclusion and uses recommendations from market analytics to make business and planning decisions.
  • Brings external thought leadership to bear in client environment. Recognizes impact of industry research & development trends that influence IQVIA™ products, services or trends. Forecasts trends, identifies potential impacts and applies knowledge to offering development and go to market strategy.
  • Drives achievement of objectives for an increasingly larger or more complex area of business responsibility and ensures execution on plans. Proactively shapes and scopes interdependencies with other stakeholders and functions and to achieve goals. Leverages, builds and maintains IQVIA™ relationships that contribute to successful execution of plans. Proactively engages and manages stakeholders, leads interdependent teams and demonstrates complete ownership of the business.
  • Identifies opportunities for products in oncology across business units. Creates and maintains multi-year product life cycle plans to drive increase visibility, value and utility of new and existing products. Makes the business case quantifying revenue and costs associated with changes in product marketing strategies. Manages product mix and engages both clients and internal teams to minimize risks associated with product transition and/or cannibalization. Recommends and negotiates budget for Go-To Marketing strategy for new or existing products, provides clarity around roles and proficiencies required and prepare the business case to secure resources. Liaisons with clients, with or independent of sales, as necessary to support product. Perceived as oncology product expert interdepartmentally and ensure product education for relevant audiences.
  • Product Development: Plays lead or review role within the IQVIA™ Offerings Development Process to define, develop and go to market with new products/enhancements. Manages the business case for new products in oncology. Makes trade-off, start vs. stop vs. enhance decisions for products in development. Ensures alignment between development decisions and actual product plan and customer targets. Secures commitment from local offices and client services for delivery of business case and implementation of service model and package
  • Assumes P&L responsibility for the global oncology survey-based offerings


Essential Experience

  • Must have an in-depth knowledge of oncology/related therapy market gained within a pharmaceutical and/or healthcare industry
  • At least 8 years experience with demonstrated success in marketing strategy, new offering introductions and market expansion
  • Will have gained some work experience in a multi-cultural/multi country environment.
  • Market research and/or consulting experience with oncology/related therapy knowledge is highly desirable
  • Understanding of core commercial activities of our clients in the areas of market opportunity assessment, marketing effectiveness, brand performance and HEOR
  • Ability to understand nuances in data sources and health care systems that might impact differences in the findings
  • Relevant experience in IT systems, software and product development, particularly Excel and SQL.

Technical skills

  • Understanding of strengths and weaknesses of different types of anonymous patient level data (e.g,. LRx, EMR, hospital encounters)
  • Deep understanding of primary research methods to collect patient-level data
  • Understanding of common methodologies used to create patient-centred metrics
  • Typical output for market opportunity assessment, marketing effectiveness, and brand performance applications

Personal skills
Successful candidates will:

  • Be fluent in English (spoken and written); strong business written English is vital
  • Have strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to build strong consultative business relationships both internally and externally
  • Proven expertise in managing multi-disciplinary, multi-country teams
  • Have proven ability to manage multiple projects, juggle priorities and resources to tight deadlines
  • Possesses strong problem solving, analytical, project management and planning skills and strategic thinking.
  • Able to manage relevant data efficiently and accurately.
  • Demonstrate commercial interest in oncology market.
  • Work effectively with others in and across the organization to accomplish team goals.
  • Excellent presentation skills.

Educated to A Level with at least 7+ years of related experience.
A degree, preferably in life sciences or in related discipline will be an advantage.

This role will be based in the UK, preferably London. Travel is expected and may involve US and European IQVIA™ local offices.
