Main Role Objective

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Talent Acquisition Leader to join our growing EMEA Talent Acquisition (TA) team. In 2019 our team delivered over 3,500 hires into the EMEA Commercial and Clinical businesses and this is one of four TA leaders responsible for driving this delivery. The role has two distinct parts, firstly the line management of a team of 12 experienced Clinical Recruiters spread over multiple locations. Secondly, the role of Talent Acquisition Business Partner to a small number of senior regional and international Clinical business leaders.

Overall, this role provides strategic support for continuous improvement of the staffing function through development and implementation of all staffing programs in the assigned geography and/or business line.  With limited guidance, this individual will provide expertise, support and advice on the staffing process to assigned management teams. With senior management they will establish strategic goals and priorities and direct/oversee their delivery.  They will lead a team of staffing professionals, in a direct line or matrix structure, to assure business delivery and results and assist with establishing employer branding.


  • Direct line management of a team of experienced Recruiters supporting a diverse group of business lines across multiple geographies.
  • Development of the Talent Acquisition team to ensure the provision of high-quality HR support and consultancy. Manage staff in accordance with organization’s policies and applicable regulations.  Responsibilities include planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance and guiding professional development; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing employee relations issues and resolving problems.  Approve actions on human resources matters.
  • Partner with HR specialist functions/Centers of Excellence to ensure delivery against strategic business imperatives and deliver solutions to meet business needs.
  • Direct and manage regular evaluations of the applicant pool and assess, track and report on time to hire, cost to hire, diversity of hires, to identify trends and cost effectiveness.   Provide reports to senior management as required.
  • Lead cutting-edge recruitment programs to attract qualified candidates and continually replenish the candidate pipeline based on market conditions.
  • Lead the implementation of projects related to legislation in the recruitment process within HR and across the business, HR systems, practices, procedures and compliance.
  • Provide management coaching and counseling to business leaders and managers to effectively meet business line/region strategic staffing goals.
  • Consult with business leaders and managers to gather data needed to improve policies and practices; recommend and implement enhancements to support a diverse workforce; ensure recruiters comply with local and regional hiring guidelines and procedures, particularly for applicant tracking.
  • Keep abreast of market trends and demand impacting the company’s ability to attract competitive candidates; serve as a critical management resource regarding such trends; coordinate with the compensation team on salary considerations and equity concerns.
  • Support activities and initiatives associated with change management involving reorganizations, mergers/acquisitions and transfers to ensure compliance with local legislation.
  • Ensure the provision of timely employee-related information to management teams as necessary.
  • Provide advice, guidance and direct support on all aspects related to people management to senior management.


  • Extensive recruitment experience gained across both agency and in-house recruitment roles, ideally in the healthcare or pharma industry.
  • Direct line management experience with a proven track record of driving performance through data. Experience of managing and motivating a remote team.
  • Exceptional international senior stakeholder management experience that includes the regular communication of recruitment performance data to a non-TA audience, quarterly business reviews and escalation management
  • Proven success working in a highly complex, matrixed international organization
  • Experience of rapidly ramping Talent Acquisition teams up and down in response to short notice changes in demand
