The Information Security Senior Manager (Sr. Security Architect) role presents a dynamic opportunity to ensure the secure operation of the IQVIA global information technology (IT) infrastructure and processes through developing and implementing security safeguards and providing input to the enterprise information security program. This role plays a large part in our Global Information Security team and will provide an excellent opportunity to liaise with key external and internal stakeholders while strengthening Information Security capabilities.
This role will be part of a global Information Security organization, partnering with the IT community, business teams and delivering an ongoing IQVIA global information security program. It will contribute to success of information security architecture work stream through understanding current capabilities, identifying and assessing any gaps and building a roadmap to bridge those gaps.
This role will require to partner and work closely with other IQVIA Information Security managers and staff, and liaising regularly with senior management at IQVIA, including members of the CIO organization, and Global and Regional Business Units. This is an opportunity to join and progress with a forward-thinking department. Principal responsibilities will include:
  • Develop, maintain and implement improvements to a landscape of technical security safeguards, including assessment and deployment of new capabilities, technologies, and systems
  • Facilitate organizational change by defining strategies for IQVIA with respect to technology domain standards and design goals
  • Apply expert level knowledge in developing security architecture, frameworks, design patterns, standards, reference architectures and best practices
  • Conduct research focused on identifying emerging technology solutions that reduce costs, increase efficiencies, provide more value, provide more capabilities, reduce risks, and increase security posture
  • Lead security architecture team efforts for technology evaluations, which involves identifying a weighted feature matrix for a specific need and evaluating and scoring products against the desired features; lead research activities including industry materials review, proof-of-concepts (POCs), and lab testing
  • Assess, monitor and recommend improvements to the global security architecture based on improving productivity, reducing risk, and balancing costs
  • Proactively identify technical and architectural risks, commenting and/or providing alternatives for improvement
  • Oversee and consult with project teams to ensure adherence to security design patterns and best practices
  • Identify and understand issues, problems, and opportunities as applied to security architecture; obtain and compare information from different sources to draw conclusions, develop and evaluate alternative solutions, solve problems, and choose a course of action
  • Translate internal and external security requirements into design of specific information security safeguards
  • In collaboration with internal (IT, legal, audit, business and other) and external stakeholders, develop roadmaps and deployment plans for technical solutions and related procedures in line with global information security program
  • Evaluate information security components of the enterprise architecture, conduct feasibility studies for selecting appropriate and cost effective solutions
  • Manage activities of the security architecture team and where necessary third-party specialists to support design, development and implementation of information security safeguards

Job Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in Information Security, Risk Management, IT Controls or other related area is mandatory, including minimum of 3 years in Information Security Architecture
  • Working knowledge of IT governance frameworks and standards such as CobiT, ITIL, ISO27001/2, NIST cyber security framework.
  • Working knowledge in a regulated environment (PHI, HIPAA, SOX, PCI, etc.,)
  • Experience in information technology related positions with working knowledge of IT infrastructure, networks, databases, processing systems, web applications, mobile technology, cloud, big data and virtualization
  • In-depth expertise and working knowledge of information security principles, algorithms, protocols and technologies supporting encryption, authentication, access control, information systems attack patterns, intrusion detection, and network security
  • Experience and commitment in delivering significant value to organization as a trusted advisor
  • Excellent communication skills, including ability to communicate across countries and cultures
  • Excellent team player and collaborator
  • Attention to detail combined with strategic perspective
  • Ability to work under own initiative, and enthusiasm to drive through change and multi task
  • Ability to exercise high level of confidentiality when dealing with highly sensitive information
  • High level of accountability and ability to execute; experience of estimating and planning work effort including managing risks and issues in relation to delivery of work
  • Ability to lead complex, cross-functional problem-solving initiatives
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and development of team capabilities
  • Strong staff management skills and the ability to effectively manage resources
  • Master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or information technology
  • A CISSP, CISM or equivalent professional certificate is mandatory
  • TOGAF, CEH or GIAC certifications preferred
  • An ITIL or project management certificates are not required but beneficial.
