PURPOSE

The role will support the R&DS Strategy team and business units by participating in or leading elements of Planning and Strategy Management and related business unit strategy projects.  The approach to the role will be from the perspective of providing business solutions to management colleagues and supporting work stream / initiative development and management. Through appropriate communication, relationship and influence this role will be responsible for supporting executives in making critical strategic decisions and developing and implementing strategic initiatives.

Position Accountabilities: 

  • Design and conduct research and analysis of competitors and glean insights to support business strategy or evaluation of market opportunities.
    • Develop and deliver against a process to capture, analyze and report on macro, market, customer, competitor and internal activities and trends that will drive strategic business decisions;
    • Perform financial, statistical and qualitative data analysis of markets and competitors - including model development and evaluation;
    • Translate data into executable and effective business intelligence reports;
    • Provide actionable recommendations and assessments of existing and potential markets.
  • Co-lead R&DS M&A portfolio pipeline development and management, including working with business units to scope and define requirements, identify and prioritize pipeline opportunities, and assist with early stage diligence activities.
  • Lead or support strategy projects or initiatives - manage the scope of work, objectives, quality of deliverables and activities on projects and deliver assigned activities.
  • Conduct financial and business analysis supporting development of business cases or other projects.
  • Develop and manage strategic, market and other R&DS reporting in support of executive business review/governance cycles. 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Strong financial and analytical skills
  • Skill in gathering, interpreting, and reporting complex market data
  • Strong organizational, planning, and project management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Adaptability and flexibility to changing priorities
  • Ability to work independently and as a team player
  • Excellent skills using Microsoft Office Suite: MS PowerPoint, MS Word, and MS Excel
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, managers and clients

MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management (or equivalent) and 5+ years related experience (e.g. consulting, strategic/operational planning) with background in the CRO and/or pharmaceutical industry preferred.  Equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered.  

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS    

  • Use of keyboard requiring repetitive motion of fingers
  • Extensive use of telephone and face-to-face communication requiring accurate perception of speech
  • Occasional travel
  • Potentially long, varied hours
