The Analytics Center of Excellence

Our new Analytics Center of Excellence (ACOE) harnesses our global healthcare insights, working closely with our clinical and therapeutic experts to power evidence-driven design, speed site activation and recruit the right patients, faster. This is a new unit within our business, integrated within Clinical Operations. We’re using big data and advanced analytics to derive insights that transform clinical development and bring new medicines to patients faster through successful trial delivery. This multi-functional team is an innovation for our business, requiring entrepreneurial and independent thinking to build our capability. Unique and with a global view, this Center of Excellence is a chance to revolutionize the clinical research industry.

Principal Accountabilities:

As a Data Science Engagement Manager, you will serve as the primary liaison providing direct support and connection between the Client and IQVIA to drive digital innovations. Embedded within both the Client’s organization and IQVIA’s Analytics Center of Excellence team, you will oversee and coordinate analytics project teams in the design, development and delivery of analytics solutions to support and grow Client / IQVIA partnership. This hands-on role is the key analytics interface between stakeholders (internal & external) and project teams, must have the ability to interpret requests and provide information to support the overall business needs.

Specific activities include:

  • Support Client Partnership and empower data-driven decisions by working with structured and unstructured data sets, building out predictive models and advising Client on data solutions development.
  • Lead data innovation task force and guide the development and delivery of high value and differentiating analytic insights to enhance trial strategy and execution.
  • Apply data analysis algorithms (e.g. machine learning, statistical modeling, natural language processing, sentiment analysis, text mining, etc.) as appropriate.
  • Leverage large volumes of complex internal and external data using a variety of technologies, including tools like Python, R, SQL, Spark, HDFS.
  • Integrate custom analytics (e.g. clustering, predictive, prescriptive) to support data-driven decision making using advanced computing tools.
  • Translate and communicate results, recommendations and opportunities to improve data solutions to internal and external leadership with easily consumable reports and presentations.
  • Stay updated on IQVIA offerings and newly acquired assets for developing R&D Solutions opportunities and identify new areas of growth, outside the scope of existing solutions (e.g. data exploration, data acquisition, visualization)
  • Proactively continue to strengthen subject matter expertise within Client partnership.

Minimum Education, Experience & Specialized Knowledge Required:

Quantitative background with advanced degrees (Master +) in statistics, computer science, engineering, informatics, data science, or related field, with:

  • 5+ years in a data scientist role with data manipulation, analysis and visualization
  • 3+ years of experience with stakeholder engagement and communicating technical concepts to audience with varied backgrounds
  • Strong hands-on experience with Python, R, SQL, and other relevant data science
  • technologies
  • Experience with big data tools (e.g. Spark, HDFS, Hive) and deep learning libraries (e.g. Keras, Tensorflow) preferred
  • Experience with data visualization techniques and tooling (e.g. Spotfire)
  • In-depth understanding of machine learning algorithms and statistical models
  • Excellent understanding of the life science industry environment and clinical trials
  • Strong organizational, communication and project management skills
  • Active listener with strong relationship building skills with an exceptional eye for detail

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

Works willingly and effectively with others in and across the organization to achieve team goals.  Experienced with creating consultative relationships with senior management in the life science industry (such as lead medics, therapeutic strategy leads and project leaders).  Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize and deliver on tight timelines.  Excellent written and verbal presentation skills, communication and stakeholder influence capabilities. In depth understanding of IQVIA real world data assets and R&D operations.
