THE ROLE

IQVIA is looking to appoint a number of R&D Business Development Directors, at a level commensurate with experience, to work in the Large and Mid-Pharma segment. These individuals will be office or home based in the company’s key EMEA hubs – the UK, Switzerland, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Spain, Italy, France, and the Nordics.

These appointments are focussed on effectively harnessing IQVIA’s broad research and development solutions portfolio in such a way as to move beyond transactional, reactive sales activity to shape understanding around the IQVIA expanded offerings in R&D.  Inevitably, this will necessitate positioning the end to end offering discussions to a higher level with existing and future clients.

The role will be responsible for selling the entire solution portfolio across R&D. Candidates will need to bring past solution selling expertise with a track record of leveraging organizational capabilities in order to upsell, driving a more sophisticated and integrated sales approach helping to shift the market to the benefit of the company. 

THE PERSON

Given that IQVIA is charting a new path there will be a need to work collaboratively across the organization and so a sophisticated approach to relationship building, both internal and external, will also be essential. 

In light of the above, candidates for the roles should exhibit the following skills and competencies:

  • A high level of drive and resilience reflected in a track record of sales and business development success in past roles. 
  • A passion and strong understanding of the life sciences market
  • Biopharma or Medical Device Research and development experience is beneficial but not essential.  Our best-in-class training will provide the best life sciences sales professionals with the skills and information they require to sell IQVIA’s offerings
  • Excellent communication skills and so able to communicate the total IQVIA value proposition to a broad range of client stakeholders.
  • Ability to lead and manage bid teams without direct line reporting.
  • Ability to lead and manage complex negotiations.
  • Demonstrable track record of building strong strategic and trusted relationships with client stakeholders.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and have the self-awareness to know when to bring in the appropriate SMEs across a complex portfolio of expertise
  • Clear business acumen and creative problem-solving aptitude
