This individual will be responsible for the oversight for contracting, quality assurance, data management, logistics, and governance of 3PLV services for clinical trials. Build and support a scalable, market differentiated, and profitable 3PLV service business with capabilities to manage both individual study and drug specific programs in addition to entire sponsor laboratory vendor lists. Participate in business development process as needed to support commercial opportunities.


  • Oversee the overall production and issue of Third Party Laboratory Operations in relation to SOPs and documents, ensure that laboratory operations meet or exceed all applicable regulatory requirements.  
  • Responsible for overseeing multiple disciplines and/or functional areas and serve as a liason within Q2 Solutions project teams, Client and 3PLV labs. .
  • Ensure that the highest standards of quality and customer service are maintained, reporting on team perforemance against client expectations and project baselines to management.
  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance staff  and other Q2 functional groups, as required, on the development and implementation of effective programs if required .
  • Regularly review vendor management training plans and eSOP reading list as required; take corrective action promptly when results are unsatisfactory.
  • Establish effective staff selection and training programs to ensure that qualified staff are hired and team performance is reported against contract, client expectations and project baselines to management.  
  • Lead the staff in the identification of service level issues and implications across other programs. Identify and implement resolutions to ensure that any solution is employed universally.  Develop contingency plans to mitigate laboratory risk and implement procedures to ensure that the physical laboratory environment meet safety requirements.
  • Develop and implement the department's start-up plans including project, monitoring and communication plans, tracking of milestones and timelines, risk management and action logs.
  • Keep abreast of new technical developmentsLead the development of Client specific standards and program specific procedures to increase quality of services and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with other functional groups within Q2 Solutions, as required, to support milestone achievement and to manage study issues and obstacles.  
  • Manage staff in accordance with organization’s policies and applicable regulations.  Responsibilities include planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance and guiding professional development; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing employee relations issues and resolving problems.  Approve actions on human resources matters.
  • Travel approximately 25%

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of Lab Operations and global project services job fuctions applicable.
  • Know of laboratory testing regulations desirable.
  • Working knowledge of quality assurance and quality control principles and in depth knowledge of company-specific program requirements desirable.
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency with Microsoft Office, Q2 Solutions LIMS or similar.

Miniumum Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in health science field required or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum 10 years clinical or research industry experience or relevant experience required
  • 3 years managing staff required
  • Experience in exteral vendor management highly desirable
