The role of the Associate Director is to sustain, deliver and grow the interdependent relationship between IQVIA and secondary care partners/clients/data suppliers including hospital pharmacies and associated departments, private and specialist secondary care providers, relevant pharmaceutical regulatory bodies, and relevant NHS and government bodies. 

The secondary care pharmacy environment is rapidly changing with the use of new systems and delivery models.  It is critical to IQVIA’s business that we create and maintain relationships that support the acquisition of business insights as well as access to the underlying data to maintain existing supply and capitalize on the opportunities created with new data sources.

Delivering value is key to ensure we create organisational interdependency with our partners. This forms a main component of the IQVIA contracts with data suppliers which include a significant level of service provision with emphasis on enhanced analytics and experience based insights.

The Associate Director is fully responsible for managing secondary care and senior NHS related relationships, over-seeing all related client service activities, implementing a service agenda and performing analytics to ensure client satisfaction. A key element of the role is to ensure that the client appreciates and makes effective use of existing IQVIA services, analytics and insights. The role also includes working with Product Management in aligning client needs with IQVIA solutions to support and create new business opportunities.

A second key aspect of the role is to ensure that we maintain access to the data, ensuring consistent data supply. This role requires working across the entire secondary care supplier base, working with new and existing suppliers to achieve our business objectives and help grow revenues. The Associate Director is responsible for managing the onboarding and change request process across IQVIA’s secondary care data supply and services.  They will also create and maintain a comprehensive view of the environment and create robust strategic plans to ensure data access to across system houses including: - EMIS, JAC, Ascribe, EPIC, and datatypes including NHS, Speciality and Private, as well as supporting longer term developments in the secondary care market.

Finally, this role acts as a subject matter expert and as such will include an element of horizon scanning to identify changes within the secondary care environment for communication back to the wider business, assessment in relation to the definition and delivery of new opportunities and forming strategic partnerships where relevant.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Own and manage all secondary care relationships, including hospital pharmacies and associated departments, private and specialist secondary care providers.  Developing and growing relationships with key contacts to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the business dynamics and to:
    • Secure ongoing and future secondary care data supply and manage all associated contracting and reporting to the business
    • Ensure data suppliers gains appropriate and full value from contracted analytics and insights
    • Hold regular review and information sharing meetings to proactively support and engage clients.  Act as the primary point of contact for all client queries and resolution
    • Identify any potential threats to existing IQVIA business within the client base including any client dissatisfaction, competitive activity, low usage or perceived value of existing services etc and either recommend or, where possible, take corrective action to rectify the situation
    • Identify areas of value added service and opportunities to sell IQVIA services to support the secondary care organisations specific initiatives.  Understand client requirements and translate into ad-hoc analytics and insight through IQVIA solutions
    • Build a forward service plan based on understanding of current and potential IQVIA business to drive and deliver customer satisfaction
  • Own and manage relationships with relevant pharmaceutical regulatory bodies, NHS and government bodies. 
  • Act as a subject matter expert in relation to pharmacy provision in secondary care leverage existing knowledge, constant horizon scanning, contacts across the wider IQVIA organisation including Healthcare, and the analysis of available IQVIA secondary care data for the benefit of IQVIA and its clients
  • Representation of IQVIA and key conferences and events, including presenting on IQVIA information and insights.
  • Work with the product management team to create and deliver against a strategic roadmap to support all IQVIA users of secondary care data eg data providers, pharmaceutical companies and NHS/Healthcare organisations to
    • Evaluate opportunities to source relevant data from alternative sources in line with business strategy.
    • Support the assessment of data and the definition and creation of new deliverables
  • Potential to take on management responsibility in the future for the team responsible for the sourcing, tracking and quality assessment of secondary care data.

Qualifications skills and experience required

  • Pharmacy Graduate with a minimum of at least 5 years NHS Hospital experience including at a senior role level
  • Demonstrable client facing or relationship building experience
  • Proven strategic planning, problem solving and project management capabilities
  • Ability to drive activity within cross-functional teams
  • Highly numerate with strong analytical skills and a strong attention to detail.
  • Competent in the use of Microsoft Office at advanced level, to deliver professional client communications including Word/PowerPoint and Excel
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
