The Product Manager is responsible for product planning and execution throughout the software development lifecycle, including: gathering and prioritizing product and customer requirements, defining product scope, and working closely with development, sales, marketing, training, documentation, services, and support to ensure successful product deliveries and customer satisfaction. The Product Manager will evaluate customer, industry, competitor, and input from internal personnel to determine requirements for product enhancements, new products, and third party product integration. They will establish the overall product feature list, document product requirements, and communicate product requirements to development. They will liaison with regulatory experts to ensure all regulatory requirements are planned and met. They will understand requirements of specific vertical contracting markets (commercial contracting, rebates and fees, chargebacks processing, government contracts, pricing and compliance), horizontal markets (high end, mid-market, low end users), and they will have knowledge of specific offerings in the revenue management services and technology space. They will participate and assist with writing business plans and roadmap planning, and they should ensure that delivered products support the company’s overall strategy and goals.

Principal Duties:

  • Elicit product requirements by evaluating customer needs/requests, market and industry information, competitive evaluation, and feedback from internal personnel
  • Document product requirements and maintain product backlog
  • Evaluate and manage customer/user enhancement requests, focused on understanding the true needs of customers and users
  • Collaborate with engineers and subject matter experts to establish requirements and analyze tradeoffs between usability, performance, technical requirements, and functionality
  • Perform customer site visits, participate in industry webinars, and attend trade shows as assigned
  • Establish scope of product releases
  • Assist with creation of master project plans ensuring feasibility for it to be carried out
  • Help lead prototyping efforts with development, including requirements, workflow, and design
  • Participate and help organize usability studies
  • Serve as product owner of agile scrum teams during development sprints
  • Participate in sprint-related activities such as sprint planning, stand-ups, and sprint demos
  • Perform internal knowledge transfer sessions during product rollout
  • Ensure overall organizational readiness at the time of product releases
  • Assist Marketing with all external-facing marketing activities and deliverables, including collateral, announcements, and conducting webinars
  • Assist with documentation needs, as required
  • Perform self-study to continually advance regulatory and domain knowledge in the Revenue Management Systems Life Sciences space

Required Skill & Experience

The individual must possess strong skills in the following:

  • 1-5 years product management experience with software application and/or technology companies
  • Domain expertise in the industry, gained through a combination of education and operational experience and/or strategic consulting experience and/or prior product management or development experience
  • Strong analytical skills and business judgment, with the ability to discern ‘must have’ market requirements from ‘nice to have’ requirements
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of executives, managers, subject matter experts, and customers
  • Ability to work with and lead a cross-functional/inter-departmental team
  • Possesses the appropriate level of technical/functional expertise and knowledge
  • Successfully engage in multiple initiatives simultaneously
  • Hands-on, get it done, results-oriented operating style

Desired Skills or Background

  • Knowledge of or experience with the following will lead to job success:
  • Prior product management or business analysts skills in the software development and/or Life Sciences industry
  • Strong analytical and product management skills required, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements
  • Experience working in an agile scrum environment and/or related certification
