Title:  Senior Director Public Affairs and Government Relations

Role Purpose:

IQVIA operates in an ever-evolving and complex environment when it comes to maintaining and gaining access to health related data. Aside from competitive threats, there exist privacy concerns in all major markets. The primary role is to ensure continued access to these data sets in order to guarantee future revenue growth. In order to accomplish this, the incumbent will establish and entrench IQVIA as a leader and essential partner in the health care arena by demonstrating the value of the information and analytics that it makes available, all of which is designed to improve health outcomes: This will be accomplished by establishing high-level and meaningful relationships with key health stakeholders including government officials, members of parliament and legislative assemblies, privacy commissioners, professional organizations representing doctors and pharmacists, NGOs, patient organizations, and research and academic institutions. The goal is to create these alliances in order to advance our mission and mitigate any potential threats. An additional goal is to uncover and drive potential revenues with these stakeholders as appropriate.

Principal Accountabilities:

The role is national in scope, with a concentration on major provinces, as well as Ottawa. The incumbent will be responsible for:

  • Overseeing a thorough assessment of the privacy and political landscape across geographies.
  • Developing a government/public affairs strategic plan for all regions, with a clear timeline of deliverables.
  • Implementing the plan and providing regular updates to the Senior management team
  • Managing all opportunities and threats; mitigating crises. 
  • Establishing relationships with relevant thought leaders and subject matter experts.
  • Oversight of the CCAS and National Advisory Board.
  • Working closely with other departments notably Communications, Legal, Hospital Provider and Government, Market Access Outcomes and Supplier Relations.
  • Attending and speaking at various conferences and events, in order to positively shape IQVIA’s image & reputation.
  • Creating, maintaining and managing all aspects of the department.
  • Establishing and working within an approved budget
  • The incumbent will be part of the Senior Management Team, and support the overall goals and objectives of the organization.

Minimum Education, Experience, & Specialized Knowledge Required:

A Bachelors degree is required as a minimum. Additional consideration will be given to those with Masters degrees and other relevant certificates or accreditation. Experience in the health care arena is essential, as is demonstrated success in government affairs and external relations. Solid knowledge of the pharmaceutical sector and the drug listing/market access process in all provinces is necessary. A solid understanding of IQVIA products and services and the ability to articulate the benefits to others is required.  The incumbent must be a self-starter and able to work with little supervision. He/she will require exceptional organizational skills, have ease with managing resources, and possess a demonstrated track record of success.  Networking and negotiation skills deemed critical.
