The Instructional Design Intern will gain professional work exposure by collaborating with Technical Writers, Business Analysts, User Experience Designers and other stakeholders.  The intern will create and maintain work products that document the design and development of software applications and capture past, current, and future states for IQVIA software products. The projects will be fast-paced and cover a variety of responsibilities including creating step by step, sequential instructions of processes and instructional design assets used to train the end user how to use the application.  In addition to these areas of focus the intern will also gain exposure to emerging technologies and their potential impact on healthcare and life sciences. This job is for a fixed duration not to exceed 12 months, with no guarantee to subsequent employment with the company.


  • Shadows and learns functions and/or projects under the close supervision of a Technical Writer on the project team.
  • Creates content in alternative media forms for maximum usability, with a consistent and cohesive voice across all documentation. 
  • Works closely with product managers, engineers, and user experience team to produce interactive training, in-app assistance, help, guides, and videos for administrators and users.
  • Embraces an agile and iterative approach to projects, ranging from educational technology to instructional design.
  • Enhances professional and industry knowledge by building upon current academic experience. This position offers a professional work environment experience in open setting, two-way communication tactics.
  • Engages with the team and asks questions to help identify their own personal interests and ambitions related to the job.


  • Appropriate verbal and written communication skills to function within a professional work environment.
  • Experience with video production, eLearning development, and/or desktop authoring/publishing tools to accomplish project goals.
  • Familiarity with at least one of the following through projects, coursework, or prior work experience: learning theories, assessment design, training delivery, script writing, and/or technical writing principles.
  • Evidence of strong visual and technical communication skills through work samples.
  • Ability to review others’ work, both written and technology-based, providing feedback that helps make the product better.


  • Pursuing Bachelors or Masters in STEM, Visual & Media Studies, Media Production, Animation, Instructional Design, Adult Education, or similar
  • Preferably a rising junior or senior, but will consider other class levels
