Job Description

IQVIA™ is the leading human data science company focused on helping healthcare clients find unparalleled insights and better solutions for patients. Formed through the merger of IMS Health and Quintiles, IQVIA offers a broad range of solutions that harness the power of healthcare data, domain expertise, transformative technology, and advanced analytics to drive healthcare forward.

Director of Strategy - Health Systems

This is an exciting role, working directly and closely with the lead of the Predictive Analytics team in shaping and executing IQVIA’s AI strategy. This is a unique role, placing the successful candidate at the heart of an important, growth priority for IQVIA. The Predictive Analytics team is a team of highly talented Data Scientists, Machine Learning experts, software engineers and Consultants, currently providing services and products to pharma companies, with an ambitious mandate to innovate within the pharma space as well as expand into healthcare delivery.

A typical day might include:

  • Strategy: Support the Predictive Analytics lead in helping shape IQVIA A.I. strategy and prioritization. The strategy involves incremental, tactical extensions to the current portfolio of A.I. offerings and products as well as thought leadership on areas for longer-term strategic investment. Key areas include both pharma-facing and healthcare provider-facing solutions. The focus is primarily on developing solutions for IQVIA’s Europe, Middle-East and Africa (EMA) region.
  • Project leadership: Lead and co-ordinate selected A.I. initiatives. As part of the strategy and prioritization process, key initiatives will be selected for implementation. This role will involve leading and coordinating efforts for one or two of these initiatives. The exact responsibilities will vary, but will involve some of the following: Designing and scoping projects; Identifying and setting-up project teams; Assuming direct responsibility for success of either the project as a whole or critical components
  • Operations: Support the lead of the Predictive Analytics team in various operational tasks involved in successful running of the Predictive Analytics team. This includes providing support in preparing annual team budgets, ensuring the day-to-day running of the team is in-line with agreed limits and creating ad hoc investment/business cases.

Whilst the exact responsibilities will vary over time and, to some degree, reflect the skill set and interests of the successful candidate, it is envisaged that the majority of time will involve a split between the first two areas above, with the third area accounting for approximately 20% of time.

Our ideal candidate:

  • Professional experience: Experience working in different roles in the health sector e.g. pharma company, NHS, etc. Demonstrable success in a consulting and / or strategy role. At least several years of professional experience.
  • Personality: Comfortable working with an open-ended brief. Extremely organized. Articulate. Competent presenting, especially to senior stakeholders. Friendly, warm, open-minded and pragmatic. An enthusiasm for A.I., data science and the ways in which these skills and technologies may help life science companies and health systems innovate.
  • Technical: Good familiarity with A.I., data science and innovations in healthcare leveraging these skills and technologies. Desirable, but not essential, the successful candidate will have hands-on technical experience e.g. as a data scientist, statistician or software developer earlier in their career.

The Team: Predictive Analytics

Our Predictive Analytics team is a fast-growing group of collaborative, enthusiastic, and entrepreneurial individuals! In our never-ending quest for opportunities to harness the value of Real World Evidence (RWE), we are at the centre of IQVIA’s advances in areas such as machine learning and big data technology. Our efforts improve under-diagnosis of rare diseases, personalised treatment response, disease progression predictions, and clinical decision-support tools.

You will join this high-profile team to work on ground-breaking problems in health outcomes across several disease areas including Oncology, Neurology, Chronic diseases such as diabetes, and a variety of very rare conditions. The Predictive Analytics team is made of data scientists, machine learning engineers, software developers, consultants experts in real-world data and in the pharma market and it collaborates across the wider global RWI team, leveraging a variety of anonymous patient-level information from sources such as electronic health records. The data encompasses IQVIA’s access to over 530 million anonymised patients as well as bespoke, custom partnerships with healthcare providers and payers.

The Business Unit: Real-World Solutions (RWS) Technology

The RWS Technology mission is to deliver world class and globally scalable technology platforms and analytics applied to complex and large scale clinical datasets, to support IQVIA’s ongoing and rapid growth in Real World Evidence, as well as the development of new product lines - this requires global leadership across technical and data architecture, software development and data visualisation, privacy management, analytical methods, data science, machine learning, deep learning and natural language processing (NLP) - building upon 100s of novel technologies and methods either published in peer reviewed journals or patented by our team.
