Role Overview
This is a senior manager role within the EMEA RW MEG team with a focus on medical writing for health economics and outcomes research (HEOR) intended for payer and health technology assessment (HTA) purposes, where you will lead medical writing projects and develop a team of writers.
The successful candidate will:
Work within a team of highly experienced HEOR specialists providing support across a range of projects, working in a cross-functional and cross-country project team, either by providing senior medical writing support, managing project teams, undertaking quality control, or providing advice, training, and support to other team members.
Be involved in shaping and leading the team’s Value Communications offerings, working closely with the HTA Strategy and HE Modelling teams, and actively lead EMEA RWS Value Communications Centre of Excellence (CoE) initiatives.
Support business development, from responding to client request for proposals, working with clients to understand their overall strategic goals and milestones; and demonstrating this in a proposal with input from other IQVIA teams, where relevant.
Manage the project delivery team on a range of Payer/HTA Value Communications projects/multi-workstream programs, including HTA dossiers (e.g., EU JCA, NICE, SMC, NCPE, etc), global value dossiers (GVDs), payer objection handlers, briefing books for early scientific advice/joint scientific consultation (JSC), protocols and reports for secondary database research, literature reviews, evidence synthesis, and health economic modelling studies, and HEOR-focused peer-review manuscripts and conference abstracts, with senior (Principal) oversight.
Drive overall project strategy and quality of deliverables, including the design, structure, and completion of deliverables; taking responsibility for client management and communications (role is client facing).
Be involved in mediating, negotiating and problem solving, within and outside of the immediate project team, as needed.
Work within and across internal IQVIA teams, including technical consultants responsible for studies generating HTA and JCA evidence via health economic modelling, systematic literature reviews and evidence synthesis, and as well as complimentary functions such as Market Access, Patient-Centred Solutions, Market Access Insights, database studies and local teams across the EMEA region.
Liaise with clients who will include pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical devices companies with global and regional headquarters based in the EMEA region, and occasionally their affiliate teams.
Support thought leadership initiatives for the Value Communications CoE, such as supporting development of conference abstracts/posters, white papers and peer review publications.
Remain up to date on latest industry developments.
Provide line management and identify opportunities for more junior members of the team to support their career development as payer/HTA value communications specialists.
The role of the Engagement Manager is a leadership role within the EMEA RWS team, and you would be expected to play an important role in shaping the team’s payer/HTA value communications offerings.There will also be opportunities to expand your portfolio into other areas,if desired.
The successful candidate
We are looking for a candidate with a good mix of academic and professional experience, domain expertise (medical writing), and stronginterpersonal and project management skills. An ideal candidate should have consultancy experience withUK/EU HTA and/or experiencemanaging the development ofHTA dossiers, HEOR-related publications, payer value messaging, as well as proven success in communicating scientific information in a strategic way to optimize a product’s access to markets and reimbursement.The ideal candidate will also have a good understanding of the typicalbusiness structure of our clients from the pharmaceutical industry and how to successfully navigate this structure to achieve client’s aims.
Qualifications and desired experience:
University degree, preferably postgraduate level, from a relevant discipline (such as, but not limited to, natural science/biology, HTA, health economics, health policy, medicine, pharmacy, epidemiology, public health).
Desire to work in Consulting, in a dynamic, fast-paced, intellectually stimulating environment, and in developing your expertise in the healthcare industry.
At least 6 years of extensive relevant work experience (e.g., pharmaceutical sector, market access / HTA consulting, academia; covering both content development and project leadership) with the development of global payer value communication materials such as GVDs, payer objection handlers, HTA submissions (e.g., NICE, GBA, SMC, JCA, etc), global value stories and payer messaging, HEOR publications (e.g., manuscripts, abstracts, conference posters).
Working knowledge of HTA systems and payer archetypes in Europe.
Demonstrable commercial awareness and thorough understanding of the pharmaceutical industry, with an existing network of HEOR and/or market access contacts highly desirable.
Programme management experience in a consulting environment is highly desirable.
Exceptional written, and strong verbal, communication skills (fluency in English) with excellent interpersonal and team working skills.
