Job Description

Role purpose

This role focusses on health economic modelling and will offer you the opportunity to support our EMEA Health Economics team and be part of our Health Economic Modelling Centre of Excellence. You will design and develop a variety of health economic models and share your knowledge and expertise across the team.

Typical projects include designing and building cost-effectiveness models, budget impact models, cost-of-illness / burden-of-disease models, and other healthcare related decision-analytic models, using a broad range of modelling techniques (e.g., general cohort modelling, state transition modelling, partitioned survival modelling, micro-simulation modelling, discrete event simulation, agent-based modelling, system dynamics modelling, etc.).

You will potentially also be responsible for conducting statistical data analysis related to health economic modelling (e.g., survival analysis, health-related quality of life utility analysis, risk equation generation, indirect treatment comparisons, etc.), depending on your background and experience.

The audience for these analyses will be various life-sciences customers as well as healthcare payers, providers, and regulators across EMEA. You will work within a team of highly experienced health economists providing support across a range of modelling projects, either by conducting the analysis, undertaking quality control, or providing advice and support to other team members. An ideal candidate will also have excellent skills in the presentation of analyses and in the communication of their findings, be that in graphical, tabular, or descriptive form.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Master’s degree or equivalent in a numerate subject (e.g., mathematics, engineering, epidemiology, statistics, or biostatistics)

  • Experience with Microsoft Excel (and Visual Basic for Applications) and at least one statistical programming language such as R

  • Experience developing health economic models and related statistical data analysis is preferable

  • Experience within consultancy, contract research organizations, or other service sectors in the healthcare industry is desirable

  • Familiarity with health economics and health technology assessment is a plus

  • Strong English written and verbal communication skills, with an interest in teaching others

  • Self-motivated with a strong desire to learn quickly and independently

  • Strong time-management and organisational skills, and flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment

  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to check own work

  • Interest in data visualization and presentation

  • Keen to work as a member of a diverse, multi-cultural team

  • Motivation to develop and own career

  • Develop project deliverables such as model analysis plans, technical reports and user guides

  • Act as a technical advisor across multiple projects, providing support and advice to team members, and conducting internal validation and quality control
