Associate Principal – Health Economics/Outcomes Research, Real World Evidence

IQVIA’s Real World Evidence (RWE) team leads projects to help life sciences clients determine, demonstrate, and communicate the value of their products to patients, payers, employers, regulators and healthcare providers around the world. Our work improves the lives of patients by helping clients evaluate the effectiveness of their products, optimal placement in the treatment paradigm, and identify unmet patient needs in multiple therapeutic areas.

The Health Economics/Outcomes Research team has the unique opportunity to contribute to applied scientific research across a variety of products (e.g., pharmaceuticals/biotechnology, medical devices, diagnostics) and therapeutic areas.

The Associate Principal is a senior member and will assume management responsibility for the on-time delivery of projects and, in some cases, components of multi-country projects for clients in the life science industry, and for some or all the deliverables of the project team. As a senior team member, the Associate Principal will mentor, coach and develop junior staff within and outside project teams.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Leads teams of HEOR professionals in the design, development and delivery of research projects or components of larger, complex projects utilizing claims, EMR, pharmacy data, survey data, etc.
  • Performs qualitative and/or quantitative analyses to assist in the identification of client issues and the development of client specific solutions
  • Proactively mentors, coaches, and shares subject matter expertise with others to elevate our capabilities to deliver world-class solutions for clients, ultimately improving the lives of patients across the world
  • Provides high level input to and ensures development of the design, structure and delivery of client reports and presentations that are appropriate to the characteristics or needs of the audience
  • Partners with other senior leaders and sales teams to identify new business opportunities of follow-on work and new leads of current clients
  • Provides and manages communication with clients and follows up with clients after project deliverable has been completed to ensure client satisfaction. Participate in methodology and/or results discussions and presentations for clients
  • Proactively develops broader and deeper knowledge of related consulting methodologies through on-the-job experience and participation in training opportunities (conferences and symposiums)
  • Understands and takes a role in implementing the HEOR business vision and objectives. Support business initiatives and the strategic development of the business
  • Contributes substantially to the development of the methodology section of statistical analysis plans; with support, oversee methodology and results sections of final reports

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Masters degree or PhD in epidemiology, health economics, health services research or related discipline required.
  • 5+ years of experience in outcomes research or health services research, including experience managing projects and/or teams.
  • Experience with and knowledge of consulting methodologies and leading teams in the design, development, and delivery of consulting projects of varying complexity.
  • Excellent management skills, client influencing and consultative relationship building skills with senior level managers and executives in the healthcare industry
  • Strong understanding of the healthcare environment and a comprehensive understanding of the key issues in the healthcare and life sciences industry
  • Ability to manage multiple projects of varying complexity, juggle priorities and deliver on tight deadlines
  • High level of literacy – ability to appraise evidence critically and write reports and manuscripts in clear, concise language as required
  • Competency in using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of SAS preferred (but not required)
  • Strong understanding of outcomes research and/or economic theory with significant applied experience
