Position Summary:
Responsible for the quality assurance of the provided pharmacy services. Performs all the legally required responsibilities of a licensed pharmacist in the areas of patient management and quality patient care. This position is a part of the interdisciplinary team that includes clinical pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, logistics, and various leaderships of the organization.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Perform quality assurance to dispense prescribed medications and other pharmaceuticals for patients
  • Review of prescriptions issued by valid prescribing health care providers to assure accuracy and clinical appropriateness of order (i.e. dose, strength, disease state, patient risks etc.).
  • Review orders to ensure compliance with manufacturer guidelines and pharmacy policies and procedures. Escalate any concerns through proper chain of reporting.
  • Direct pharmacy employees engaged in the data entry, packaging, and labeling pharmaceuticals
  • Answer questions and provide information to patients, caregivers and providers on drug use, interactions, side effects, dosage and storage of pharmaceuticals
  • Oversee the pharmacy technicians and workflow; intervene and follow protocol when necessary to correct information
  • Participate in all aspects of pharmacy workflow to ensure timely preparation of orders
  • Participate in the development, updating and communication with patients for Patient Plan of Care, Reassessments, Clinical Interventions, Medication Reconciliation and other Clinical 
    activities under AllCare’s Patient Management Program
  • Maintain established policies and procedures concerning quality assurance, security of 
    controlled substances and disposal of quarantined and hazardous waste drugs
  • Oversee and assist with pharmacy license renewals
  • Manage and oversee inventory and ordering of drug stock
  • Assay medications to determine identity, purity, and strength
  • Maintain drug storage requirements for product integrity. This includes monitoring of 
    temperature systems and ensuring compliance with audits such as monthly inventory inspection and pharmacy cleanliness.
  • Instruct interns and other personnel on matters pertaining to pharmacy
  • Ensure compliance with pharmacy laws and regulations to include all states of licensure and other Federal laws

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s in Pharmacy or a Doctorate in Pharmacy (Pharm D) from an accredited College of Pharmacy
  • Unrestricted license to practice as a pharmacist in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Three years of practicing pharmacy experience
  • Experience in Specialty Pharmacy
  • Experience in patient management 
  • Strong communication skills

The potential base pay range for this role is $100,000-$115,000 annually. The actual base pay offered may vary based on a number of factors including job-related qualifications such as knowledge, skills, education, and experience; location; and/or schedule (full or part-time). Dependent on the position offered, incentive plans, bonuses, and/or other forms of compensation may be offered, in addition to a range of health and welfare and/or other benefits.
