Responsibilities
Essential Functions
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities: Proactively reach out to and prospect for new C-suite level contacts across the Pharma, MedTech, and Consumer Health industries in South Africa.
- Develop and implement strategic business development plans: Create and execute strategic sales & business development plans to achieve company goals.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and partners: Build and maintain long-lasting relationships with clients, understanding their business needs and providing tailored solutions.
- Conduct market research to identify trends and opportunities: Gather data from various sources such as industry reports, market surveys, competitor analysis, and customer feedback to define & understand the current market landscape.
- Collaborate with internal teams to develop tailored consulting solutions: Conduct thorough assessments of client needs and challenges by engaging with internal subject matter experts. This helps in understanding the specific requirements and pain points of each client.
- Prepare and deliver presentations and proposals to potential clients: Craft and present persuasive value-proposition presentations and proposals to both potential and existing clients, highlighting the unique benefits and solutions tailored to their specific needs.
- Market Analysis: Analyze market trends and competitor activities to identify new business opportunities.
- Negotiation and Closing: Negotiate contracts, contribute to setting of proposals and close deals to maximize profits while ensuring customer satisfaction.
- C-suite Engagement: Effectively engage and converse with C-suite executives (e.g., CEOs, CFOs, CTOs) to understand their strategic goals and align sales strategies accordingly.
- Financial Acumen: Demonstrate strong financial acumen, including understanding financial statements, budgeting, and financial forecasting to provide value-driven solutions.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with other departments to ensure seamless delivery of products and services.
- Continuous Learning: Stay updated with industry trends, sales techniques, and best practices.
MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Preferred qualifications are bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or a related field, an MBA will be advantageous.
Experience
- Demonstrated experience and a successful track record as a senior professional sales representative with management experience in South Africa’s private Pharma, MedTech, or Consumer Health industries.
Skills and Abilities
- Strong strategic planning and analytical skills
- Excellent written and verbal persuasive communication and interpersonal skills
- The ability to present high-level content to c-suite executives
- Strong networking abilities to build and maintain relationships with clients, partners, and industry influencers.
- Proficiency in CRM software (e.g., Salesforce)
- Effective negotiation and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to adapt to changing market conditions and business environments.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrated ability to engage comfortably with and build relationships with C-suite executives.
- Strong understanding of financial concepts, including financial statements, budgeting, and forecasting
