Role overview

Are you an experienced medical writer and reviewer with a proven track record of supporting the professional development of less experienced colleagues?

As Lead Medical Writer for the IME team, you will produce a wide range of multi-media educational materials pitched at an HCP audience, as well as reviewing content produced by other writers or expert contributors. You will work with colleagues across EPG Health to support proposals and deliver exceptional content to deadline.

In addition, you will line-manage team members, providing mentoring, feedback and support.

Responsibilities

  • Create a wide range of engaging, medically accurate multi-media medical education materials aimed at an HCP audience that meet the requirements of accepted proposals
  • Review the work of other medical writers, ensuring it is medically accurate, engaging, compliant and correctly pitched for an HCP audience, providing feedback as necessary to support writing development
  • Ensure that all content is ABPI compliant, easy for busy healthcare professionals to consume, and supports deeper engagement and behaviour change
  • Manage your own workload and output across multiple projects, in collaboration with project-management and sales teams, and oversee the workload of direct reports, raising resourcing and other issues with the Editorial Team Lead
  • Innovate with EPG Health colleagues to increase the scope and value of content on Medthority
  • Help to advance the editorial team regarding its workflows, processes, standards, etc

Qualifications and skills:

  • BSc or higher in biomedical science
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in medical education, communications or journalism, or related work in the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry
  • Excellent writing and reviewing skills, with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to edit and adapt content utilising a variety of styles and outputs
  • Line-management experience or a strong track record of mentoring/coaching
  • Ability to pick up on new therapy areas quickly and to work across multiple projects
  • Solid understanding of the drug development process and the relevant regulations that influence communicating with healthcare professionals and the public
  • A desire to provide creative solutions to content challenges
  • Strong project and time-management skills
  • A flexible, proactive approach with the ability to multi-task, adapt quickly to change, work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work independently as part of a geographically dispersed team
