The Automation Scientist contributes to the investigation, creation, and development of new strategies, methods, and technologies for high throughput laboratory automation process improvements. This role supports discrete laboratory automation projects, integral to the success of our high-throughput vaccine laboratory specializing in clinical trial testing.
What you’ll be doing:
- Supporting implementation of new technologies to improve processes for departmental and business unit objectives.
- Interfacing directly with team members and internal clients in Laboratory Operations, Assay Development, and Information Technology to understand and refine requirements for process improvement.
- Contributing towards requirement definition plans and protocols, performing due diligence around laboratory process improvement projects.
- Critically reviewing new technology on an ongoing basis to understand suitability towards Q Squared Solutions business strategy.
- Supporting the development of new experimental techniques, while maintaining/refining existing techniques, as well as the setup and execution of validation protocols including IQ/OQ/PQ documentation.
- Communicating effectively across functions and manage relationships with internal and external partners and customers.
- Responsible for the production of quality data and documentation in adherence to timelines in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Reviewing and writing SOPs and other documents as needed.
What We Are Looking For:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific discipline (i.e., biology), or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Minimum of 1-2 years in biology or related scientific discipline, with demonstrated industry experience in a laboratory setting utilizing or developing automation solutions (i.e., Hamilton systems).
- Experience in a clinical laboratory operating under GxP and/or CLIA guidelines.
- Other Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be accepted in lieu of degree.
The Knowledge, Skills and Abilities needed for this role:
- Basic knowledge of assay/method development and/or assigned methodology principles, theories, concepts, and instrumentation.
- Understanding of sample handling and preparation.
- Proficiency with relevant laboratory techniques.
- Knowledge of laboratory safety and infection control procedures and practices including standard precautions and hazardous chemical handling.

The potential base pay range for this role, when annualized, is $62,400.00 - $104,000.00. The actual base pay offered may vary based on a number of factors including job-related qualifications such as knowledge, skills, education, and experience; location; and/or schedule (full or part-time).
