OVERVIEW

We are seeking a full-time senior-level engineer to develop and maintain IT Storage systems and standards across the IQVIA global environment. In this role the engineer will work with all levels across the organization to implement optimal storage technologies, measure the effectiveness of these technologies, and drive faultless uptime, performance and availability. 

This engineer will coordinate and facilitate engineering/development work across a global IT infrastructure landscape to deliver an enterprise-class storage service and ensure adherence to IQVIA standards. As the technical expert in their areas of responsibility the Senior Storage Engineer will provide third level support across multiple enterprise storage technologies and facilitate multi-regional platform support for any problem escalated from the second level. In addition to support, this role will also require active participation in global teams to design, deliver, automate, and innovate enterprise storage solutions and support processes.

RESPONSIBILITIES

•            Work within the Enterprise Technology Services team to ensure corporate IT infrastructure storage standards are delivered to internal and external customers.

•            Assist architecture teams with the design, implementation and ongoing support of virtualization/SAN projects and data center operations

•            Perform design, implementation, configuration, and administration of mission critical global infrastructure storage systems across multi-vendor file, block, and object storage systems

•            Work closely with project management, application development, and other infrastructure teams like network, security, platform. and database teams to develop scalable, performant, and highly available storage architecture

•            Deliver operational efficiency and process flow through the creation, maintenance, and improvement of automation using common scripting tools and automation engines.

•            Work with the global teams in the proactive discovery and delivery of feature enhancements and platform innovation across multiple infrastructure storage technology stacks (IBM, Dell, NetApp, HPE)

•            Participate in a shared global after-hours on-call support function to quickly manage high impact issues resulting in the successful restoration of services

•            Demonstrates an understanding of IQVIA’s change control process and upholds the importance of compliance

•            Collaborate with global IT infrastructure teams and business units to assist in the development, maintenance, and refinement of corporate IT strategy and support documentation.

•            Consistently demonstrate the ability to lead and mentor junior storage administrators, attend meetings, and evaluate projects for the level of engagement required; and coordinate implementation activities across multiple teams

•            Completes effective monitoring of enterprise systems and implements tuning to achieve optimal results and desired outcomes

•            Assist in selection of vendor hardware and software including due diligence activities

•            Demonstrates an understanding of the business impact of issues and how they relate to infrastructure IT systems

•            Foresees, communicates, and mitigates risks before problems arise

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

•            8+ years’ experience with : NetApp Cluster Mode, IBM V7K & FS series, Dell Powerstore, HPE 3Par, VAST, and Brocade FC SAN

•            Experience configuring and maintaining enterprise storage data protection, resiliency, and security features across NAS, block-based, and object storage solutions

•            Industry recognized certification in areas of specialization.

•            Experience with emerging storage technologies

•            Demonstrate possession of excellent aural, oral, and written communications skills, to include writing/editing of technical documentation for international audiences, and effective presentation skills

•            Ability to author and implement automation through basic scripting and API-driven automation engine integration. Experience with open source Ansible preferred.

•            Able to assess/diagnose problems and requirements for work, identify root causes of technical problems, and recommend solutions.

•            Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, managers and clients

•            Open to supporting a reoccurring after-hours on-call rotation

MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

•            Bachelor’s degree in computer science or engineering; or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience

•            Eight or more years of progressive experience in enterprise storage system support, design, engineering, and architecture.
