About the team

The Global Solutions Engineering team is a critical part of the ongoing success and growth of IQVIA Technologies. Highly regarded, respected and in constant demand, this team of 15 experienced experts are integral to building trusted partnerships with our clients, engaging at all levels from C suite down with the primary objective of closing new business.

Overview of the role

As the Director of Global Solutions Engineering, you will lead a team of Solutions Engineers and Technical Architects. The Solutions Engineers are responsible for pre-sales activities for multi-country/multi-product opportunities for our Global IQVIA Technologies business unit.  You will be responsible for ensuring the team is highly skilled, focused on the right engagement level in the right opportunities, and delivering on the strategic mission for the team as we continue to grow and evolve our IQVIA Technologies portfolio.  The Technical Architects are responsible for the provision and maintenance of demonstration environments to support the end to end sales process. You are responsible for meeting overall revenue targets and positively impacting sales outcomes by effectively leading the team and aligning/deploying resources and demo environments to build proof of concepts, demos, demo scripts and RFPs. The ideal candidate is someone who has demonstrated success building and leading a global sales engineering team across a global footprint, working effectively with senior leaders in a highly matrixed organization, and is looking to focus on leading a team to achieve objectives.

 Principal accountabilities

  • Lead a diverse team of client-facing, subject matter experts and demo environment solutions architects responsible for pre-sales activities for multi-country/multi-product opportunities for our Global IQVIA Technologies business unit.
  • Develop and implement the strategy, structure, and deployment of Solutions Engineer resources to ensure we meet revenue goals, work on the right opportunities, and are seen as key subject matter experts across solutions and regional business units.
  • Lead the demo environment center of excellence team to optimize the way we build and provision demo environments to the regions, global Solutions Engineers and Training team.
  • Develop creative solutions to demoing our integrated solutions at scale including integrated use cases, click through demos, integrated environments, etc
  • Partner with RBU and Commercial Leaders to improve awareness and perception of the Solutions Engineer team and increase Solution Engineer utilization rates.
  • Work collaboratively with Sales Enablement to build and implement a training program to cross-train Solutions Engineers and ensure each person on the team is highly effective and skilled.
  • Proactively coach the team through observation and ongoing management cadence.
  • Identify and surface gaps in the sales process, knowledge and skills and work collaboratively with Global Sales Enablement and Training to address.
  • Develop and implement a voice of Sales program (with Sales Enablement) to ensure timely, actionable feedback is delivered to Product teams. 
  • Attend high-profile, high-opportunity client meetings to assist Solution Engineers on the team, provide necessary business/technical consultation, and deliver product demonstrations.
  • Design and implement metrics to ensure consistent evaluation and measurement all Solutions Engineer activities.
  • Deliver on Go to Market projects and initiatives as requested.

Qualifications, experience and skills required

  • Bachelor’s degree in technology or business equivalent, MBA preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience within sales, delivery and/or commercial operations.  Must have client-facing experience.
  • Strong management experience and skills with demonstrated success in effectively leading teams to deliver results in a fast-paced, tight deadline, high output environment.
  • Outstanding communications, relationship building, problem solving and project management skills.
  • High level of business acumen and ability to effectively interact with and influence senior leaders.
  • Strong ability to develop strategic and tactical plans and drive execution.
  • Extensive experience working with sales teams in global technology or software companies.
  • Experience in global roles; understand cultural sensitivities and time zones required
