As a Sr. Application Dev Specialist within the Supplier Services Group, you are responsible for providing custom solutions based on the supplier’s business need that falls outside of the standard delivery offerings.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and modify mainframe programs using following programming languages: SAS, WPS, COBOL, JCL/PROC, SYNCSORT, etc.
  • Design, develop and modify programs on UNIX/LINUX operating systems using data base user interface and query software and data base reporting software: Oracle, SQL, Access.
  • Create validation reports to ensure data accuracy.
  • Improve processing efficiencies and timing of ongoing customer data bases/ deliverables by supporting the data delivery team with the automation of these processes using Cybermation. While also providing estimations around this body of work based on the user’s requirements and current functionality
  • Store, retrieve and manipulate IQVIA and third-party data to create and deliver custom data bases to IQVIA customers. Occasionally documenting the job flow and data flow for the solution components using Microsoft Visio in an elaborate/descriptive manner.
  • Utilize different technologies to substantially increase decision-making accuracy, automations and deliver quality solutions that solves complex business problems.
  • Create solution approach & design for the custom components by consulting with managerial and technical staff to clarify program intent, identify problems, and suggest changes.
  • Working closely with the development team, fielding questions pertaining to issues and procedures for ongoing deliverables.
  • Conduct a full range of programming tasks including design, coding, debugging and validation for a wide variety of software programs/systems.
  • Supervise programming staff members by providing technical support.
  • Provide on-call support to offshore team during non-business hours including weekends and holidays.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering/Computer Science
  • Minimum of five years of experience ideally in the pharmaceutical industry
  • 3+ years of Project and Task Management.
  • Technically proficient team player/builder with diverse experience in developing collaborative solutions with cross-functional teams.
  • High proficiency in SAS/WPS and other mainframe programming languages like COBOL, REXX, CLIST, JCL/PROC, Sync sort, version-maintenance tool like Endeavor.
  • Strong Operating system skills – UNIX/LINUX
  • Good SQL programming and debugging skills.
  • Automation experience using Cybermation.
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills including presentations, meeting, and process documentations.

Additional Skills Preferred

  • Big Data skills including Hadoop (Cloudera), Hive/Impala, Apache/Spark, GIT, Jenkins (code deployment), Airflow (scheduling), Python (Machine Learning).
  • Future technologies likely to include Cloud based solutions in Microsoft Azure, Snowflake, DataBricks.
