Sr. Instructional Designer / Training Consultant - Role Summary: 
The Snr Instructional Designer / Training Consultant role designs and delivers training programs and product education offerings on the CTOS product/service areas and/or professional development areas to meet training needs of internal and external clients. The right candidate would ensure that existing training programs and supporting documentation are current and continually strive for improvement. They would provide detailed knowledge, direction and guidance in the design, development and implementation of new training and performance support tools. A key part of the role would be to continually strive to develop and implement innovative solutions to enable and deliver knowledge transfer, training and/or distance learning for customers by using alternative media for deliverables such as e-learning training, new learning enablement products in adoption support etc including conducting continues research into best practices and new solutions in training/PE. Coordinating involvement of outside vendors and training partners in meeting training requirements.  A key aspect of the role would be to support the launch of new products via the development and implementation of associated new training plans working closely with key internal partners in Product Offerings, Development, Sales and Marketing.  

Role Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of the CTOS Product Education and Training Offerings 
  • Gather input from the customer base and from colleagues who work with/support customers on training needs and priorities
  • Use information collected to develop and iterate on the PE/Training roadmap, and collaborate with Head of Consultative Solutions, CS-SMEs and Head of User Knowledge Centre to finalize trainings “to develop and deliver” according to product and client requirements.
  • Project manage the development of training and product education materials and tools. 
  • Develop, maintain and nurture a subject-matter expert community 
  • Drive training development on newly-launched features/products
  • Ensure quality of training developed/delivered
  • Structure processes and team responsibilities to ensure the instructional strategies are effective and content is well designed, has high impact, meets customer product education objectives and optimizes adoption and supports user retention
  • Facilitate and guide the creation process for individual courses as/when needed (review content at each phase, define visual treatment needed to illustrate concepts, QA, approve for “go live”, add to dashboards, tracking, etc)
  • Quality assure all training developed, confirming it meets learning objectives, adheres to the CTOS IQVIA brand and the team’s style guide and is error free
  • Devise new approaches to learning based on customer and partner needs as well as Product release schedules 
  • Outline adoption, rollout and training solutions for customers with a focus on impact to process
  • Plan, schedule and manage the development of high-quality, engaging training for each CTOS product releases, including continuous innovation in evolving the training suite
  • Deliver training to CTOS customers (e.g. Pharma, Biotech and CROs)
  • Complete custom training and services projects on an as needed basis 
  • Innovate and grow the training suite of products to meet customer needs 
  • Coach subject matter experts in presentation delivery and adult learning techniques.


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and preferably a minimum of seven (5) years’ experience including a minimum of three (3) years adult training/instructional design.
  • Preferably training/instructional design experience in the life sciences / clinical industry and utilizing project management skills  
  • Demonstrated experience defining and implementing an overall training/product education strategy
  • Excellent instructional design, presentation, writing and editing skills 

Strong knowledge of: 

  • Instructional design, adult learning skills, classroom management techniques, training software 
  • large group / global trainee delivery tools/technologies. 
  • Forward thinking and innovative in identifying new practices and technologies in L&D / PE for complex software products 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. 
  • Strong knowledge of software products & services, their uses/applications and the pharmaceutical industry. 
  • Strong project management direction, time management and negotiation skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, presentation and facilitation skills
  • Desire and ability to learn and work with new technologies
  • Able to multi-task and meet aggressive deadlines in a dynamic environment 
  • Detail-oriented, with exceptional follow-through and superior organizational skills
  • Strong problem solving skills; intellectually curious with a desire to learn new skills
  • Proven ability to work both independently and as part of a team; experience working as part of a distributed team. 
  • Desire to stay abreast of, develop and share best practice internally as well as externally to customers.
  • Strong knowledge overall of training and instructional design to identify, research and suggest synergy opportunities across the wider industry and IQVIA organization.
