PURPOSE
Provide strategic input and manage proposals for high priority opportunities. Support Proposal Developer (PD) in driving proposal process forward, ensuring on-time and high quality delivery to our customers.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Play a key role in development of the strategy in collaboration with Business Development (BD), Therapeutic Strategy Lead (TSL), Executive Sponsor and Medic.
  • Own the overall strategy of high priority opportunities.  Ensure the strategy is agreed and locked early in the process. Secondarily, work with the Exec Sponsor to facilitate early Executive visibility and ‘buy-in’ for the strategy where required. Also to perform full review of proposal once consolidated by PD and editor (as applicable), to ensure the document flows and delivers the message agreed at the strategy call.  
  • Take a supporting lead role in assigned opportunities and work closely with the Proposal Developer (PD) and proposal team to ensure the budgets and text are delivered to the client on time.
  • Work with the PD to create proposal document, defining structure, assigning appropriate proposal team members to their respective sections, and providing support to proposal team where required.
  • Write key sections of the proposal after receiving strategic input and agreement from various key payers (BD, TSL, Medic, Exec Sponsor).
  • Review and develop strategic text in partnership with the various stakeholders and is responsible for ensuring text is complete and relevant to opportunity.
  • Maintain quality results by using templates; following proposal-writing standards including readability, consistency, and tone; maintaining proposal support databases.
  • Provide advice, support and guidance as needed and serve as a mentor to colleagues
  • Work on department and company-wide initiatives to improve the process for generation and delivery of proposals.
  • Contribute to overall strategic direction for proposal format and delivery.
  • Participate in customer meetings as required
  • Perform other duties as assigned
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Extensive knowledge of clinical development, particularly CRO industry including various functional services and full service development.
  • Excellent knowledge of Proposal Systems and processes, Microsoft Excel, Word and understanding of costing models.
  • Ability to interpret budgets, protocols and all supporting Request for Proposal (RFP) documentation into a strategic plan for opportunities with an aim to articulate and translate the strategy into a compelling proposal document.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills required with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Ability to make timely, sound decisions and escalate appropriately in a fast paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Possess innovative and creative thinking and writing skills with the ability to visualize documents and communicate vision clearly and simply, both verbally and in writing.
  • Must stay abreast of all new products and competitive trends. Must understand persuasive language and what makes proposals compelling..
  • Ability to balance strong attention to detail with overall business and deliverable objectives
  • Ability to provide and receive constructive feedback in a positive manner. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with proposal team members, managers and customers.
 

Job Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Degree in related field and a minimum of 10 year's direct experience in proposals or industry specific operations experience; or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
 
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Extensive use of telephone and face-to-face communication requiring accurate perception of speech
  • Extensive use of keyboard requiring repetitive motion of fingers
  • Regular sitting for extended periods of time
  • Occasional travel
