Job Description

Software Engineer

Are you excited about working on large scale development challenges? Does building performant and hyper-connected applications make you want to jump for joy? The Product Engineering Team at IQVIA needs a talented developer to help us change the face of enterprise software across life sciences. If you are looking for the stability of a 55,000-person global company with the agility and family culture of a small team that gets stuff done, then this is the job for you.

We’re passionate about using the best development practices and continually growing the team. We care about our customers and the software craftsmanship that goes into our product. In this position you will work alongside developers of many different stripes to develop and improve products in our enterprise marketing applications portfolio. Your goal is to ship vertical customer value across multiple areas including UI, APIs, developer tooling, and more. We use Slack, promote 10% innovation time, and value craftsmanship, autonomy, and ownership of projects.

We work hard, but our Seattle office is a lot of fun. There's boardgames, ping-pong, puzzles, an arcade machine, and a kegerator. We have waffles on Friday, a stream of donuts, and food trucks parked right outside the office. It's dog-friendly, comes with paid parking or transit, and a gym membership. Somewhere between all of that, we ensure that our customers (and other developers) are happy and enjoy using the software we write.

In this role you will be an instrumental part of our team responsible for a feature area. Every single day you will get to work closely with other developers to ensure that code is the highest quality and solves real customer problems.

Qualifications

  • Deep understanding of C#. If you’re seasoned in another backend language like C++ or Java, but have a strong interest in learning C#, that can also work. Experience with .NET Core, JavaScript and React is a huge plus.
  • 3+ years’ experience in team-based software development.
  • Experience building for SaaS/PaaS and distributed applications.
  • Intimate knowledge of web services and building and interacting with REST APIs is essential.
  • Comfortable with Cloud services, specifically AWS services (in particular: ECS, EC2, S3, ECR) and their respective APIs, is a major plus.
  • Solid understanding of Database standard methodologies.
  • Experience writing successful software solutions and microservices. We follow the Twelve-Factor App guidelines and hope that you have read it and embrace the philosophy.
  • A willingness to take intelligent risks when proposing an idea and you are comfortable with rapidly iterating and finding new approaches. You will need the ability to say, "here's an idea, if you don't like it, I have another one," without taking it personally.
  • Competence with industry-standard tools like: Git, npm, JIRA, Docker, etc.
  • A link to your GitHub profile and/or online portfolio with recent work is a strong plus.

We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.
