Data Science Developer

Predictive Analytics, RWS Technology

This is an exciting opportunity to work in one of the world's leading human data science teams working with real world insights to help our clients answer specific questions globally, make more informed decisions and deliver results. This role will set within a data science consulting function where the main goal is to establish the viability of innovative machine-learning focused prototypes and to recommend subsequent prioritisation on the product roadmap.

A typical day might include

  • Collaborate with a cross-functional team to develop prototypes that address the full spectrum of data science activities from data engineering to machine learning algorithms to visualisation to storytelling.
  • Provide expertise and help shape best practices in the area of data engineering and machine learning
  • Support other data scientists in your core areas of expertise
  • Have appetite for exposure to activities across the data science spectrum
  • Proactively identify opportunities for innovation and areas for improvement across the workflow

Our ideal candidate: Experience

  • Postgraduate degree or higher in a technical or scientific domain with two to seven years of experience working in a technical / consulting environment involving advanced analytics.
  • Appetite for applying new and existing technologies to challenging problems in health care, i.e. motivated by solving the problem
  • Advanced level programming skills in Python, ideally developed from experience working on commercial projects, including significant experience using SciPy and machine-learning packages (numpy, pandas, scikit-learn, etc).
  • A pragmatic approach in scoping and designing, i.e. seeking simple iterative solutions wherever possible to shorten the time-to-value of work.
  • A set of software-development values that ensures high-quality, readable and maintainable code is produced within an open and collaborative environment.
  • Knowledge of supervised machine learning methods, such as regularised regression, ensemble tree-based models (e.g. xgboost), support vector machines, deep learning methods, etc.
  • Strong communication skills across disciplines is essential in order to collaboratively plan and execute end-to-end solutions with a range of experts including data scientists, software engineers, consultants and external or internal stakeholders.

Bonus points for:

  • Knowledge of healthcare patient-level data
  • Knowledge of epidemiology or biostatistical methodologies involving methods such as causal inference and time-series modelling
  • Knowledge of data visualisation tools
  • Programming skills in PySpark
  • Experience in working in a consulting environment

The data encompasses IQVIA’s access to over 530 million anonymised patients as well as bespoke, custom partnerships with healthcare providers and payers
