Job Description

Technology Solutions division of IQVIA develops and markets healthcare-focused enterprise software applications including Master Data Management, CRM, Multi-channel Marketing, Content Management, Social and Compliance solutions.  The Digital Office leads the transformation of the Technology Solutions product portfolio and is developing a micro-intelligence platform bringing a layer of smart services to Technology Solutions’ software offering called “Ada”. Ada’s micro-intelligent services use machine learning, natural language processing and deep learning techniques as appropriate, and relies on a big data layer.


Role Purpose:

The Engineer will work closely with a platform architecture team. You will be working in an Agile environment to improve the quality, reliability and performance of the architecture (especially the automation pieces) under test.  As part of the larger Machine Learning team, you will be exposed to the cutting edge of micro-intelligence architectural support. Understanding the nature of platform support, and finding good ways to ‘break’ the processes involved, are key to success in this role.  This platform architecture will be fully automated, so quality assurance of existing automation applications is key to the day-to-day duties of this roll. Additionally, this role will be expected to develop automated QA scripts/applications to facilitate ongoing CI/CD efforts within the overall team. As the team is spread out in multiple geographies, the ability to work with the team on a daily basis, communicating effectively and being a positive team player is essential.

Principle Accountabilities:

  • Be a Lead Tester who can test a complex solution and work independently.  Portions of the solution expected to be tested are the ETL, raw data lake, inbound data APIs, outbound data APIs, and containerized black-box microintelligence services.
  • Develop and execute [automated] test scenarios for testing of back-end operations (ETL, APIs, Deployment, Scaling, etc) of the Ada platform
  • Design and run quality test, as well as performance tests
  • Have the ability to quickly automate test scenarios
  • Review agile functional and design requirements to ensure full understanding of individual deliverables to enable development of good test scenarios
  • Identify defects and impact on the solutions
  • Deliver high quality output that matches technical requirements in a timeframe that matches business needs
  • Collaborate with globally distributed colleagues on Agile teams
  • Follow process by adhering to documented methodology.  Provide good and clear test cases, with traceability to requirements and defects
  • Perform manual testing, document new test cases, or create automate test scripts depending on the need of the team
  • Document existing procedures and create Best-Practices against which quality is judged.

    Technical skills

  • Experience with QA automation tools required (Selenium, Appium, home-grown, etc.)
  • Experience with a language used for machine learning or big data is preferred (Python preferred)
  • Experience with a major automation-capable cloud host required, AWS preferred
  • Experience automating server/cluster deployments in cloud environments required
  • Script generation, analysis, and debugging ability required
  • Experience with automated build tools (such as Ant/Jenkins/Gitlab Runners) required
  • Experience with containerization technology preferred (Docker preferred)
  • Experience with automated deployment technology preferred (Kubernetes preferred)
  • Ability to operate test data management tools such as GridTools
  • Minimum Education, Experience, & Specialized Knowledge Required:

  • Degree in Computer Science or a related subject is preferred
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in QA automation, datacenter operations, or platform management
  • Experience in the testing of non-UI interfaces (ETLs, APIs, CI/CD Services, automation scripts, etc.)
  • Experience working with cloud-based applications relying on docker and kubernetes deployments (or similar)
  • Experience with Agile teams and methodologies
  • Experience in UI testing automation is a plus
  • Prior experience in using team collaboration tools like Testrail, jira and confluence is a plus
  • Good analytical, reasoning and problem solving skills required
