Job Description


Purpose:
Working within the Translation Science Laboratory to develop and validate cell based and soluble biomarker assays using techniques such as Flow Cytometry, ELISA, Multiplex Analysis, Cell culture, etc.
 
Key aspects of this role will include: Carrying out feasibility and validation experiments as per sponsor requests; data interpretation; analysing and reporting validation data; preparation of validation documentation; SOPs and training documentation; training key personnel within the clinical testing departments to process newly validated assays. This position is suited to an individual with a life science degree or with relevant experience of the above.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Validate custom assays/kit based assays, equipment and scientific methods
  • Identify the most suitable reagents and QC material for new scientific methods
  • Troubleshooting of instruments / new and existing assays
  • Responsible for the standardisation and calibration of equipment, to ensure consistent results
  • Generation of protocols, SOPs and validation reports
  • Scientific review of data
  • Train members of staff in custom, new and existing assays
  • Develop and maintain training material
  • Open communication with key departments and study managers
  • Interaction with sponsors when required

Job Requirements

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • In-depth knowledge of clinical procedures used in the area of responsibility
  • In-depth knowledge of Good Clinical Laboratory Practices (GCLP) and other regulatory agency standards within area of responsibility
  • In-depth knowledge of laboratory safety and infection control procedures and practices including standard precautions and hazardous chemical handling
  • In-depth knowledge of laboratory equipment, instrumentation and terminology used in the area of responsibility
  • Effective computer skills
  • Ability to maintain effective reporting procedures and control workflow
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, managers and clients
     
    MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree or educational equivalent in Medical/Histo technology with relevant experience or equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Applicable certifications and licenses as required by country, state, and/or other regulatory bodies
     
    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Work is performed in a laboratory environment, full manual dexterity and visual acuity required
  • May be exposed to potential physical harm from hazardous chemicals, infectious diseases, blood-borne pathogens, toxic materials, toxic gases, electrical hazards, dangerous tools and equipment
