Position Purpose:
 
The Regional Lead acts as main counterpart for our client in respective regions and in doing so, works with IQVIA Operations team (e.g. RLs, COLs, DLMs, QMs, PTLs) as well as the Global Operational Excellence lead to ensure adequate communication and follow up on relevant operational topics and action plans in the region and continuity across global model.
 
Main Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
 
Perform regional oversight:
 
  • Implementation, direction & regional level strategy as discussed with IQVIA Regional Heads and aligned with global Janssen model principles and guidance
  • Acts as main contact for IQVIA GOX role for that region and supports implementation of required strategy initiatives and action plans on the regional/country level
  • Supports issue resolution and CAPA implementation and follow through on regional and country level as needed
  • Oversee that IQVIA staff are getting the required information from their country counterparts and escalates any issues to relevant stakeholders (e.g. NCCMs, PTLs, GOX, RL)
  • Acts as main contact for Non Core Country managers in the region
  • Provides NCCM with resourcing updates from relevant countries in the region; escalate when needs are not properly communicated upfront or issues arise
  • Conduct regular meetings with RVM at regional level. Where needed may be involved at country level discussions to communicate regional level plans, assess progress against goals, support local plan implementation.
  • Chair operational meeting which includes preparation and follow up
  • Support preparation (and if required attend) customer meeting
  • Liaise with Regional QM and other relevant stakeholders within the region or globally
  • Partner with NCCM and IQVIA ops teams to improve efficiency/performance:
  • Review, analyze and report key performance indicators (KPIs) and performance metrics against targets for assigned region and countries.
  • Develop regional/country specific improvement plans for below-target KPIs and other performance measures.  Coordinate with other Regional Ops Leads via the Global Operational Excellence lead.
  • Discuss quality of monitoring performance and collaborate with our client and IQVIA colleagues to ensure proactive problem solving and process improvement is implemented
  • Enable/collaborate with our client and IQVIA teams to identify and replicate best practices
  • Collaborate with Quality managers and GOX to ensure key insights are being developed and used to improve performance
  • Work with NCCM (or assign delegate) to understand about new and important trials to be conducted in the region to enhance effective and timely allocation of resources.
  • Create and maintain effective communication plans between our client and IQVIA on a regional/local level
  • Support in resolving monitoring quality related issues
  • Collaborate with our client and IQVIA team on resourcing and retention areas (e.g. forms and tools linked to operational activities)
  • Identify opportunities to improve cost effectiveness and liaise with other regional ops leads for best practices via GOX
  • Update supporting documents as needed
  • Participate in (or assign delegate) assigned operational excellence initiatives to improve model efficiency and performance.
     
    Support communication and implementation of finance related processes in the region:
     
  • Support adherence to important financial timelines by communicating with IQVIA Ops teams, customer account team and Finance as needed
  • Update supporting documents as needed (e.g. forms and tools linked to finance activities)
  • Collaborate with IQVIA Finance colleagues to ensure appropriate financial and resource planning and tracking
  • Periodically review requirements with GOX and suggest amendments as needed (e.g. to improve efficiency/performance)
 
Other Activities:
 
  • Oversee for IT system and/or access issues with IQVIA ops staff and escalate as needed
  • Develop tools, processes, instructions aimed to continuously improve Quintiles monitoring as well as IQVIA and our client collaboration on a regional/local level
  • Oversee trainings to IQVIA staff in the region with respect to principles and procedures governing collaboration with Janssen in collaboration with IQVIA training dept.
  • Support local study start-up activities (where required and executed by IQVIA staff) from contractual/financial/resourcing angle in collaboration with IQVIA RSU group


Job Requirements

Qualifications:
 
  • University Degree or Equivalent preferably in a medical/science-related field
  • Recommended minimum of 8 years experience in Clinical Research/Development or related industry
  • Previous line management experience/supervision of staff is required
 
Skills, Experience and Competencies:
 
  • Experience working cross countries with multiple stakeholders and key customer contacts
  • High ability to create and maintain good business relationships, ability to work under pressure with multiple internal clients with competing goals
  • Excellent communications skills including the ability to state opinions clearly, ask questions, seek clarification, communicate facts objectively, challenge when appropriate, and pursue issues to resolution;
  • Ability to present clear messages accurately in both written and spoken English from complex information/data to all levels in the organization;
  • Good interpersonal skills that have proven effective in managing relationships and negotiating solutions while maintaining a level of approachability with colleagues both internal and external to the organization.
  • Analytical and conceptual thinking skills — is able to critically evaluate and solve problems, display good judgment, and maintain appropriate levels of independence
  • Experience working as part of a team with a proven ability to make an active contribution to the team’s performance and teamwork
  • Proven project management and organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks with high flexibility to a successful conclusion
  • Demonstrated computer literacy, usage of MS Office software, web-based systems and databases.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the regulatory, ethics and contractual requirements for execution/starting clinical trials in relevant country
