IQVIA's Patient-Centered Solutions Team

IQVIA provides scientific services spanning clinical trials, real world evidence, and consulting in all areas of the product lifecycle. The Patient Centered Solutions (PCS) team leads the industry in generating data to ensure that the patient voice is incorporated into the development and commercialization of medication and other drug/non-drug interventions. We focus on understanding and meeting the needs of our clients – mostly life science/pharmaceutical companies – through the application of broad consulting expertise and technical scientific knowledge to design scientifically rigorous research. This research is broad and includes qualitative (e.g. interviews, focus groups), quantitative (e.g. clinical outcome assessments (COAs)/patient-reported outcomes (PROS), preference research) and passive (e.g. digital health technology tools) approaches to understand patient, caregiver and healthcare professional experiences and expectations of disease and treatment.

The PCS team is forming a Central Nervous System Center of Excellence.

To meet our client expectations and retain the excellent reputation built up over time the IQVIA PCS team is committed to recruiting, training and supporting driven individuals who have both consulting skills and life science skills that can be applied to PCS research activities. Individuals joining us are assured of a rewarding and progressive career in patient-focused research. You’ll have the opportunity to address challenging client issues, across multiple geographies with a hands-on influence in developing and delivering solutions.  We operate in a truly multi-cultural, collegial and collaborative work environment that is rich in development and growth.

Roles & Responsibilities

As a Scientific Director you will participate in all phases of PCS consulting projects, from design to final presentation.  For example:

  • Design research studies to capture the patients’ perspective and prepare methodological recommendations and summaries for project proposals with a focus on schizophrenia, depression, Alzheimer’s Disease, Parkinson’s Disease, PTSD, ADHD or other neurology/psychiatry-related indications

  • Provide oversight of rater training content development and delivery

  • Provide scientific advice and leadership to ensure that the patient's story is appropriately captured and caveated in research activities

  • Use modern and rigorous scientific methodologies to undertake primary and secondary research focused on generating a comprehensive understanding of a disease and treatment paradigm

  • Lead qualitative and quantitative research activities – for example direct the development of discussion guides, train interviewers, conduct pilot interviews, oversee development of statistical and psychometric analysis plans, review and interpret statistical output

  • Advise on COA instrument and outcomes, including critical appraisal, selection and modification, endpoint strategies, implementation and analytic plans

  • Translate qualitative and quantitative data into meaningful value messages and communicate these to clients, regulatory authorities, payer organizations, healthcare professionals (HCPs) and patient advocacy groups

  • Provide oversight and support to PCS consulting projects, and other PCS services that require scientific and/or statistical experience

  • Liaise directly with clients as a subject matter expert

  • Participate in working groups and produce presentations, publication and other activities, as needed for thought leadership

  • Take responsibility and be accountable for ensuring quality and consistency in scientific research in PCS

  • Mentor, coach, and share subject matter expertise with others to help develop individuals and capabilities

  • Work cross-functionally in IQVIA to identify opportunities for partnership

Strong candidates will exhibit a creative approach to scientific research and problem solving and an interest in client interaction.  Additionally:

  • Advanced degree in clinical psychology, neuroscience, neurology, psychiatry, or another associated field

  • 10+ years of relevant work experience involving COAs

  • Experience in healthcare regulatory processes

  • Excellent oral and written communication and confident presentation skills

  • Beyond these criteria, well-rounded individuals who will engage their colleagues professionally and contribute to a collegial office culture are encouraged to apply
