Vice President Engineering, Analytics & Artificial Intelligence engines, Real World Solutions

About the role

We are looking for a passionate technology and engineering leader based in London, UK. The successful candidate would lead the engineering teams for our software platforms and SaaS solutions, levering a wide range of data mining, machine learning and visualizations techniques – across a large portfolio of real world and other large datasets.

Our Data Transformation, Analytics, and Artificial Intelligence (DTA&AI) division, part of Real World Solutions, is a fast-growing business, focusing upon delivering tangible results to our clients across healthcare, levering scientifically validated software consuming healthcare bigdata. We work with clients to help them use complex, clinically rich patient-level healthcare datasets to answer their specific questions globally, make more informed decisions, and deliver results to solve healthcare’s biggest challenges, from accelerating clinical trials, to diagnosing patients with rare diseases. Our ever-expanding range of successful product lines include privacy engines, NLP engines, AutoML engines and BigData SaaS platforms. In addition, the team curates the world’s largest collection of such Real-World Data from actual patient care settings in 18 countries worldwide, encompassing clinical trial, genomics, EMR, claims and pharmacy data, and is at the forefront of “Big Data” in healthcare.

You’ll work closely with our leadership team including our VP of Product, Client segment leads, IT ops leads, and sister engineering teams to:

  • Develop and implement world class technologies and development processes to successfully launch new and support existing products and drive revenue growth.
  • Manage development teams and offshore shared resource pools, to enable allocation of resources to support and accelerate product development.
  • Monitor and correct issues through all phases of the software development lifecycle to ensure quality and on-time delivery of products.
  • Identify and analyze key business metrics to uncover reasons for success, reasons for obstacles, and deliver needed development process enhancements.
  • Manage the development team to architect and develop optimal technical architectures and approaches.
  • Develop and maintain standards for code development and engineering performance measurement, defining and implementing overall KPIs and management systems.
  • Lead technology due diligence and product integration efforts for potential acquisitions, mergers, or partnerships.
  • Recruit, train, and manage a world-class technology team.
  • Lead a culture of continuous improvement and innovation, maintaining knowledge of current and emerging technologies and advises on their impact on the business

Our ideal candidate: Experience & Abilities

  • 15+ years of experience in increasingly responsible roles with at least 10+ years of executive leadership within a complex global business environment
  • Strong track record of building highly scalable platforms.
  • Ability to lead a diverse team ranging from early-career full stack engineers to highly-specialized architects
  • Advanced communication skills across a variety of audiences; ability to make the complex simple, and to win mindshare through storytelling and dialogue.
  • Prior experience with high data volume, mission-critical analytics applications or platforms design patterns, architecture and product development
  • Strong business and financial acumen; ability to conceptualize, prioritize, and manage multiple stakeholders and programs with ease.
  • Track record of leadership within enterprise environments; ability to deliver high-volume applications with an eye for user experience.
  • Experience of hiring, developing talent, and managing a diverse and inclusive team recognized for delivering results, intellectual horsepower, inclusiveness, and collaboration.
