Job Description

Develop, implement and manage a best in class global logistics network for inbound, outbound, 3rd party and interlab clinical trial material and sample shipments that align with the Q2 Solutions facilities footprint and vision for future capabilities. Motivate and direct a high-performance logistics organization to set the strategic direction, operation performance and cost optimization objectives of the company’s transportation requirements.  Provide import, export and related regulatory expertise and guidance to staff, stakeholders and external customers. Directly manage logistics resources located in the US, Argentina, UK, EU, South Africa, Singapore, China, India and Japan.


  • Provide strategic direction for global logistics.
  • Ensure strategic initiatives are executed in a timely manner in accordance with the project plan.
  • Plan allocation of Logistics resource, including project initiatives / assignments.
  • Ensure global standard operating procedures are developed to comply with import, export, and logistics regulatory processes.
  • Oversee operational liaison between departments as needed.
  • Participate on corporate regulatory project teams or may provide service as an independent expert.
  • Maintain external network of industry, logistics, and regulatory contacts.
  • Plan, coordinate and provide leadership for complex logistics projects.
  • Develop and maintain good communications and working relationships with internal and external clients, regulatory agencies, couriers and related companies.
  • Ensure maintenance and adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs) related to logistics, related regulations and training.
  • Keep abreast of current data, trends, regulations, developments and advances in area of expertise.
  • Serve as regulatory consultant for internal and external clients and global QLABs.
  • Ensure compliance and promote and facilitate global logistics standardization.
  • Interact with international and domestic regulatory agencies related to import, export, transportation and packaging.
  • Oversee development and implementation of new processes to improve logistics operations within the company.
  • Ensure vendors are managed in a manner that fosters continuous improvement.
  • Oversee revision and maintenance of current practices, policies and procedures to support both the department and internal / external customers.
  • Manage staff in accordance with organization’s policies and applicable regulations. Responsibilities include planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance and guiding professional development; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing employee relations issues and resolving problems. Approve actions on human resources matters.

Global Lead Objectives

  • Act as de-facto general manager of the global logistics function with cost/revenue goals to achieve.
  • Responsible for harmonising and standardising practices and SOPs across the globe.
  • Responsible for setting strategy for their function, gaining agreement from GM Council, implementing the strategy & reporting progress through metrics to the GM Council.
  • Accountable for oversight of all regional functions in their discipline including operational delivery (quality), cost control, revenue optimisation, process benchmarking and leaning, staff management & quality system implementation across the globe.
  • Work closely with local GM for coaching and development personally and for the team.
  • Generate metrics which show financial, operational productivity and quality metrics for each site within their global remit to show progress and adherence to goals set for each metric.


  • Comprehensive knowledge of international logistics including import/export regulations and procedures

  • Bachelor’s Degree with relevant experience; or equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Experience in export / import operations and shipping regulations including hazmat shipping; or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.


  • Extensive use of keyboard requiring repetitive motion of fingers.
  • Extensive use of telephone and face-to-face communication requiring accurate perception of speech.
  • Regular sitting for extended periods of time.
  • May require occasional travel.
