Accounting Associate, Halifax, NS

As an Accounting Associate your responsibilities will include:

  • Responsible for proper revenue recognition in accordance with company policy, monthly transaction revenue accrual process and analysis of variances to forecasts
  • Customer invoicing, customer deposit account reconciliation and liaising with customer’s accounts payable departments
  • Identify and assist in implementing process & documentation improvements
  • Preparation and posting of general journal entries
  • Perform monthly, quarterly and annual accounting activities including reconciliations of bank, credit card and other balance sheet accounts
  • Create and analyze reports, ensuring all reconciliations are up to date
  • Preparation of HST and QST returns including remittance of corporate tax installments
  • Various other administrative duties

The skills and behaviors required for this position include:

  • 2-5 years accounting experience is a requirement (preparation and posting of A/P, A/R and Journal entries)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications, including Excel
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy including strict adherence to policy and process
  • Self-motivated individual who works well both independently and in a team environment
  • Works well under pressure, with competing deadlines, understands commitments and prioritizes well
  • Experience working with modern ERP systems is considered an asset
