IT Director APAC Operations – the role
The IT Director APAC Operations role is a Director level management position which is critical to the successful daily operations and strategic projects associated with infrastructure service offerings in the SE Asia region. The position is based in Singapore and reports to the VP of Cloud Services. The IT Director APAC leads a core group which are responsible for the effective and efficient delivery of all third-party and internally managed IT infrastructure used to support business process and services across the region.
Candidates must be experienced in the various infrastructure components and best practices/security/operations related to our architecture. This is inclusive of Networking, Server, Storage, Security, and Hosting technologies.
The IT Director of APAC Operations must have proven managerial experience working with technical professionals, as well as, our business facing colleagues in other IT areas including other Infrastructure Services teams, Client Support, Architecture, Security, Compliance, and the Application Development teams. Provides input on ways to improve our processes, best practices and policies. Must have strong communication and relationship building skills with the ability to discuss and present information and issues across a wide variety of individuals and groups (inside and outside of IT). A practiced demonstrable background of business acumen is also necessary.

This individual will have solid technical infrastructure experience, strong project management acumen and excellent vendor management skills, in addition to a superior, service-oriented approach to infrastructure operations. This individual is responsible for operational and service management processes to ensure that quality, efficiency and agility goals are achieved. As a member of the Cloud Services senior leadership team, the role contributes to the development and execution of the enterprise wide IT strategy within region
Primary responsibilities:
  • Sets the mission and vision of the Cloud Services organization in SE Asia to foster a business-oriented culture and mindset driven by continual service improvement techniques.
  • Leads the development of the regional service strategy and technical roadmap, and ensures its integration with the overall IT and enterprise strategic plans.
  • Works with the Cloud Services senior leadership team on the service portfolio and governance required to prioritize resources, including budget.
  • Acts as a trusted advisor, and builds and maintains relationships with other IT leaders and business executives to develop a clear understanding of business needs. Ensures cost-effective delivery of IT services to meet those needs, and is able to respond with the agility required to address changing business priorities.
  • Develops and controls the annual SE Asia operating expenditure (opex) and capital expenditure (capex) budgets for Cloud Services to ensure that it's consistent with the overall strategic objectives of IT and the enterprise, and is within plan.
  • Provides strategic direction and oversight for the design, development, operation and support of in region IT systems that fulfill the needs of the business, including the full life cycle of technical architecture, infrastructure engineering, infrastructure operations and IT service support.

Job Requirements

Job requirements:
  • Bachelors or master's degree in computer science, information systems, business administration or related field, or equivalent work experience
  • 10 or more years of experience in IT and business/industry
  • Five to seven years of leadership responsibilities
  • Preferably five or more years of experience in large, cross-functional international teams.
  • Preferably proven experience or demonstrated capability in leading IT initiatives in complex and dynamic environments
  • Exceptional leadership skills, with the ability to develop and communicate an I&O vision that inspires and motivates staff and aligns with the IT and business strategy
  • Ability to build a strong partnership with the business and demonstrate the business value of IT
  • Strong business acumen, including industry, domain-specific knowledge of the enterprise and its business units
  • Deep understanding of current and emerging infrastructure technologies and practices, and how other enterprises are employing them
  • Application of appropriate regulatory or statutory compliance, including SOX, GDPR, and information security
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute a people plan that ensures the right people are in the right roles at the right time, and employees are highly engaged and satisfied
  • Deliver effective service management through the definition and adoption of a governance practice that uses KPIs and metrics to track and measure availability, quality, and satisfaction of service offerings under their remit.
  • Strong vendor management and partner relation skills to identify and leverage resources internal and external to the enterprise to enhance capabilities that support business objectives
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts and technologies.
