Job Description

This is an opportunity to join a high performing, innovative team of privacy professionals to support the Company’s efforts to advance research, inform discourse among healthcare stakeholders, achieve better healthcare and improve the health of all people around the world.  Following is a summary of the privacy team’s approach:


Program & governance responsibilities:

Privacy management is most effective as an organizational capability.  All employees are responsible for complying with laws, and managing privacy risks effectively in their daily work.  The privacy team is responsible for developing new program solutions and improving existing solutions that can be shared with employees worldwide based on the following:

  • Provide scalable solutions through effective models and frameworks to support a growing business operating in 100+ countries

  • Put actionable information in the hands of employees and decision-makers; ensure the information is accessible and in usable form

  • Develop effective education and training and deliver to the right individuals

  • Develop and implement effective metrics and dashboards, and communicate with Company leadership and employees to support continuous improvement, oversight and compliance


Day-to-day support responsibilities:

  • Provide first line support for key initiatives, incident response, contact with key government agencies overseeing privacy, and privacy diligence for key acquisitions and other transactions

  • Provide second line support for all other commercial day-to-day activities (with first line support provided by local attorneys and local employees with privacy responsibilities)


Global privacy network responsibilities:

  • Build internal communities of employees with privacy responsibilities to improve organizational capabilities in privacy management and share privacy innovations, knowledge, and practices

  • Build external network of local privacy counsel throughout the world, and share information about the Company’s approach to privacy management to improve local counsel’s ability to support the Company and maintain consistency in privacy management

  • Public policy / thought leadership

  • Monitor and inform colleagues of proposed or actual changes in laws that may impact the Company

  • Support local response (internal and external) to media and government activity

  • Long term shaping of public policy with advocacy and thought leadership to ensure real world information is available to improve healthcare and to promote the adoption of risk-based approaches to protect individual privacy

  • Work with the IQVIA Institute for Human Data Sciences, internal / external thought leaders, marketing and others to promote effective methods of protecting privacy in “big data”

  • Exchange information regarding privacy practices with clients and data suppliers




Responsibilities

  • Work with the Chief Privacy Officer and other team members to build, manage and improve the Company’s privacy program

  • Lead global privacy initiatives and programs and serve as a subject matter expert for the Company for those initiatives and programs

  • Work closely with business colleagues to identify and address potential privacy issues and develop solutions (including use of privacy by design ) to meet the needs of the Company, its customers and its data suppliers

  • Develop and oversee metrics and dashboards; review results with leadership and local colleagues to drive improvements

  • Identify and communicate information about emerging privacy trends, laws and regulations

  • Respond to privacy inquiries (internal and external) as appropriate

  • Develop and ensure delivery of effective privacy training, education and communication to employees and others

  • Assist with investigations and incident response relating to privacy matters

  • Work with Company colleagues, legal counsel, and other related parties to represent the Company’s privacy interests with external parties (e.g., government bodies)




Education / Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school required

  • JD or other advanced legal degree from an accredited law program preferred

  • A degree in a health-related discipline is a plus

  • APP certifications such as CIPP/US, CIPP/E and/or CIPP/M is a plus


Professional qualifications

•       Minimum 10 years of experience in the privacy profession

•       Minimum 5 years of in-house experience working in a multi-national corporation

•       Minimum 5 years of healthcare privacy experience preferred

•       Minimum 5 years of privacy experience in the finance or high tech industries a plus

•       Experience with US and EU privacy laws, preferably related to the healthcare or life sciences industries

•       Experience with secondary uses of healthcare data, analytics, anonymous data, de-identified data, pseudonymous data

•       Experience with building and implementing effective privacy programs and data governance activities

•       Experience with legalizing mechanisms to support trans-border data flow; experience with BCRs and CBPRs is a plus

•       Experience writing policies, standards and guidance documents

•       Experience conducting investigations and managing incident response

•       Experience developing and delivering training

•       Ability to travel from time to time
