Job Profile Summary     

In accordance with Q2 Solutions Transnational corporate safety and security program, the Environmental, Health and Safety Director will oversee administration and development of environmental, health and safety (EHS) functions for business divisions and locations globally. The position is responsible to provide strategic leadership and guidance in achieving EHS related performance objectives and compliance with all applicable regulatory and industry accepted EHS standards.  The position directs company-wide safety and environmental policy and integrates EHS strategy with Quintiles’ long term strategic business planning.  The position is responsible for managing staff performance and development including the identification of development opportunities that foster excellent customer service while meeting individual career development expectations.

Responsibilities

 Essential Functions

  • Assess EHS programs for prioritized risks in line with corporate business objectives and standardizes implementation globally.
  • Act as Corporate EHS Leader when interfacing with OSHA or any other local/state/country agency on issues related to EHS.
  • Serve as Corporate EHS interface with Q2 Solutions’ sites and legal in EHS compliance and liability-related discussions.
  • Maintain a current knowledge to ensure company is compliant with OSHA, federal/country and local regulations and best practices related to EHS.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance and reporting with all domestic and international locations and corresponding agencies.
  • Ensure that all business unit EHS personnel and others with EHS responsibilities are aware of and are properly meeting appropriate documentation and reporting requirements in a timely manner.
  • Enhance existing programs to create best practices to be shared across the business.
  • Streamline and strengthen Q2 Solutions’ EHS management to ensure world-class results by promoting sharing of knowledge and a focus on safety and environmental culture.
  • Continuously improve safety awareness and standards across all global locations.
  • Work with the Senior Director, Global Risk Management to prepare analytical reports which evaluate effectiveness of EHS programs and provide statistical data regarding incident rates, Workers Compensation costs, etc.
  • Direct the administration, maintenance, development and implementation of policies, procedures and processes for the Corporate crisis management and business continuity program/practices.
  • Develop, implement and maintain comprehensive management systems in support of the Q2 Solutions’ Corporate EHS Policy.
  • Manage a continuous review of business unit risk matrices to ensure that new policies and plans address current needs and strategic objectives as well as coaching executives and business units in EHS policies and best practice.
  • Lead a team of EHS professionals, located throughout the globe.  Manage staff in accordance with organization’s policies and applicable regulations.  Responsibilities include planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance and guiding professional development; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing employee relations issues and resolving problems.  Approve actions on human resources matters.

MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's Degree in a Technical or safety related field and a minimum of 7 - 10 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Requires broad management knowledge to lead teams, and well as the ability to influences others outside of own job area regarding policies, procedures, and goals
  • Experience in a corporate EHS role, 12 years’ relevant experience including in a site EHS role and of working with regulatory agencies or equivalent combination of education, training and experience                           

Required Licenses and Certifications

  • Certified Safety Professional and or Certified Industrial Hygienist, or equivalent certification (e.g., Grad IOSH)
