Job Summary


This position is responsible for overseeing all technical aspects of the DrugDev Spark platform modules.  Using an active and practical approach, this position will direct technical employees to attain the company’s strategic and product development goals. In addition, the position will facilitate interoperability and/or integrations with other technologies within IQVIA and with outside partners.

Summary of Essential Job Functions

  • Leads all technical aspects of the DrugDev Spark Platform
  • Oversees the conversion of requirements into architecture and design of the platform solution
  • Collaborates with Product staff across DrugDev Spark code bases to share best practice, capitalize on efficiencies, and ensure consistency in approach and delivery
  • Recruit and onboard new Technical staff
  • Development, training, and professional mentoring of Technical staff across the Clinical Technology organization
  • Directs the establishment of Security Standards and Standard Operating Procedures for computer systems and software engineering activities such as development, testing and infrastructure
  • Establishes the approach to technical delivery of modules/features/enhancements proposed by DrugDev Business Units
  • Coordination of the hosted solution including monitoring, security and vulnerability testing, performance, and disaster Recovery
  • Collaborates with other members of the organization to define current and future priorities for the department
  • Ensures that DrugDev Spark solutions are architected and implemented in line with DrugDev product roadmap
  • Balances architectural concerns with delivery priorities
  • Represents DrugDev in forums with other architects across the Enterprise to ensure DrugDev Spark is in compliance with IQVIA objectives

Supervisory Responsibilities


This position does have responsibility for managing people.



Minimum Experience Requirements


  • BS in related field (CS, Math) and extensive hand-on experience building web applications.
  • Graduate degree in related field desirable
  • 15 years of experience in a related field or equivalent (including graduate work)
  • At least 5 years of experience in leading teams

Skill Requirements

  • Well versed with software engineering practices and continuous improvement of process and software.
  • Extensive experience architecting and building scalable, usable and secure web applications and SaaS solutions
  • Detailed understanding of web technologies.
  • Strong relational and object oriented design capabilities.
  • Ability to architect complex web applications and associated server infrastructure.
  • Extensive knowledge of Ruby, Python or other web framework used by DrugDev Spark
  • Excellent communicational and interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with and influence all levels of the business.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Exceptional leadership and people skills
  • Understanding of clinical development and experience with 21 CFR Part 11 and GXP
