Data Governance Manager

Job Description

  • Data Governance Manager leads and manages organization-wide data governance initiatives.  Will be responsible for managing the protection and improving the quality of sensitive data and IQVIA’s information assets.
  • The position will focus on establishing IQVIA’s data governance policies, updating and ensuring adherence to an enterprise data governance framework for said data policies (including applicable standards and practices) to achieve the required level of consistency, quality and protection to meet overall business needs and current privacy and contractual standards.
  • The Data Governance Manager serves as a process owner and subject matter expert for organizational governance, data quality and protection issues.
  • The Data Governance Manager will partner with IQVIA’s functional area leadership to improve the quality and value of core data assets, respond to regulatory protection requirements, establish and manage internal contractual governance rules, as well as support organizational strategic initiatives.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Establish and govern an enterprise data governance implementation roadmap including strategic priorities for development of information-based capabilities
  • Manage key data policy activities across many functions such as data standardization, data policies, data quality, change control, and management of a data governance stakeholder group
  • Launch a business unit wide data governance framework, with a focus on improvement of data quality and the protection of sensitive data through creation/modifications to policies, standards, principles, governance metrics, processes, related tools and data architecture
  • Define key performance indicators and quality metrics to track compliance with data related policies, standards, roles, responsibilities, and adoption requirements
  • Steer data governance stakeholder group, comprising of business, functional, IT, data management and other internal IQVIA stakeholders to implement data standards, set goals, define plans to achieve objectives, and resolve escalated data governance related issues
  • Educate, influence and drive data governance strategies with key business stakeholders across multiple levels of the organization
  • Provide progress reports to management and oversee periodic updates to the IQVIA Data Governance Roadmap

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in a major services organization, with large-scale data or project management and oversight experience.
  • Knowledge of data governance practices, and business and technology issues related to management of enterprise-wide information assets
  • Expertise in data profiling and data quality rule design
  • Knowledge of data related government regulatory requirements and emerging trends and issues
  • Excellent business process and change management skills with ability to develop strategy, evaluate efficacy, influence stakeholders, drive implementation and measure success
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to perform root cause analyses
  • Bachelors or Masters in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration or related field
  • Exposure to MS Excel and SQL are ideal
  • Exposure to IQVIA data offerings plus
