The Data Automation Specialist is responsible for executing and assisting Data Services Manager – Technology with policies and processes required to manage the collection and processing of EDC files from sponsors. Data Automation Specialist acts as a subject matter expert for team members and customers.  The position is expected to serve as a backup to the Data Services Manager Technology and Data Service Manager – Process as required.

Job Summary

Data Automation Specialist acts as a subject matter expert for team members and customers.  The position is expected to serve as a backup to the Data Services Manager Technology and Data Service Manager – Process as required.

Summary of Essential Job Functions

  • Creating and implementing standard data processes across Payments organization
  • Identify and communicate opportunities for process improvement to the Data Services Manager – Technology.
  • Understands SSAE 16 compliance and ensures compliance as appropriate
  • Assists in establishing and maintaining an environment for development of cleaning processes and creates automated data cleaners to minimize manual effort required to clean EDC files
  • Establish and maintain a repository of documentation for data management at sponsor/protocol level.
  • Works with manager to determine the required headcount and skills required to perform the functions of the department
  • Coordinates with the Payments Management team on the onboarding of new clients and daily operations
  • Works with the Client Lead and sponsor’s data management team to establish the process for collection of monthly/quarterly EDC files and is responsible for the accuracy of the data collected
  • Works with Data Services Managers to establish training, development and coaching plans for employees to ensure the team members have the skills needed to perform effectively in their roles
  • Either directly or by representative, participates in sponsor kick-off meetings to communicate data management approach
  • Other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has limited supervisory responsibilities as required

Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or other degree with related professional experience
  • 2+ years of prior data management experience
  • 1+ years of supervisory experience preferred
  • Client relations experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of accounting applications for invoicing and accounts payable preferred
  • Prior experience at a biotechnology company, CRO, pharmaceutical company or other organization supporting research activities in a financial or data management / analysis capacity preferred
