Skills and Requirements

Reporting to the Lead Architect in the OMS group, the Data Architect provides critical expertise and implements industry best practices to ensure that canonical data models and other data structures across multiple domains are developed and surrounded by processes that are congruent with the on-going evolution of OMS products.  Specifically, the role demands that the incumbent:

•  Analyze requirements and  design appropriate data architectures and data management practices across the OMS group and taking into account adjacent divisions of the company;
•  Work with Product Management, Product Architecture and the development team  to reduce technical data complexity introduced by business requirements and increase re-usability;
•  Create conceptual data models, strategies and plans for metadata, data security and archiving;
•  Design governance, metadata, data quality, reference data management and data structure design standards and processes;
•  Work with enterprise and solution architects, as well as delivery resources to ensure that data management principles and processes are incorporated into system designs;
•  Establish appropriate Data Architecture design patterns;
•  Analyze and codify metadata models for all OMS products, while establishing standards for future evolution and extension of those models;
•  Build and/or extend canonical schemas for all integration layers within the OMS product suite;
•  Develop and codify data quality frameworks and monitor adoption;
•  Drive and codify development of data taxonomy and glossary relationships, develop scalable curation processes, and ensure established crosswalks across glossaries in various metadata systems;
•  Provide actionable ideas for innovation and business capability development;
•  Ensure that implementations align with enterprise data strategy principles and Architecture standards;
•  Ensure a cross-functional view of business data is available to the enterprise;
•  Develop logical designs for data integration and movement, databases and data warehouse solutions including data flows and conceptual models;
•  Manage vendor relationships to ensure delivery of technical work done by 3rd-party partners;

Qualifications

•  Extensive Data Management experience with a strong data modeling background;
•  Significant experience in the creation of canonical data models in support of integration strategies and the design of delivery platforms;
•  Involvement in significant enterprise transformation projects and MDM;
•  8+ years of experience in a formal Data Management and/or Data Architecture role with accountability for related processes;
•  4+ years of experience related with Metadata modeling, Data Quality, Reference Data Management and Data Structure Design;
•  A Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, engineering or a science discipline;
•  Substantial and up-to-date knowledge of industry data management trends, practices and standards;
•  Exceptional written, verbal and presentation skills;
•  A demonstrated ability to collaborate with a diverse range of people to deliver effective and innovative results.
