About the role

This is a rare opportunity for a confident and entrepreneurial leader to develop, scale and lead our Qatar business. We are looking for an experienced professional with a track record of driving business growth across a mix of life sciences, hospitals and payor environments. The role requires a high energy leader and exceptional communicator, who relishes the challenge of expanding into this new region for IQVIA.


The Qatar Country Lead will report into the Regional Leader for the Middle East, and will work closely with central functional leads and subject matter experts across the middle east. You will build-up and manage a local team of experts and be responsible for the financial growth of the IQVIA business in Qatar.


We are seeking an individual who will take responsibility for commercial and managerial leadership of the business. This includes accountability for the operational oversight of the local team and achieving revenue and profit targets.


You will direct and inspire the team and drive the growth of the business - selling global solutions to International clients based in Qatar and developing and delivering relevant, differentiated high-value offerings to local affiliates. The successful candidate will have a highly analytical and conceptual mindset combined with leadership skills and deep commercial acumen. You will be expected to take an active role in strategic decision-making, focusing both on short and medium-term priorities.


The Country Lead will also be expected to sell and deliver high profile projects to ensure high levels of client satisfaction and repeat business.


Responsibilities


Country Leadership

  • Delivery of the overall revenue and profit targets for the team
  • Oversight, in collaboration with technical experts in the team, the delivery of high-quality projects on time and to budget and meeting client satisfaction score targets
  • Regular reviews of financial reporting activities (feeding into bi-weekly and quarterly financial reporting and Country Review process)
  • Ownership of the recruitment process to attract new team members into the team (including business case for additional headcount)
  • Active participation in collaboration with other county leads in the middle east and globally in the strategic development of local and international client networks
  • Encouraging innovation in delivery by using new efficiency-saving techniques and/or outsourcing options where possible
  • Remaining current on industry, client and competitive trends to anticipate and identify new business challenges and issues for assigned clients

Business development

  • Build and manage relationships on behalf of IQVIA with senior stakeholders and leaders from life sciences, hospitals, insurance, public health and government entities
  • Represent IQVIA at industry forums and act as an industry thought leader on behalf of IQVIA
  • Maintain connections with clients to create leads and build a network of clients who buy repeat business
  • Work with clients proactively to develop business, demonstrating an understanding of needs across the client organization
  • Act as Principal in Charge (i.e. take overall accountability for selling and delivering) several strategically important, innovative projects for clients

Organisational leadership

  • Provide inspirational leadership and act as a role-model to and for team members
  • Ensure the team are highly engaged
  • Implement the Project Delivery Framework to continuously improve project execution
  • Continue the development of a highly capable, engaged and motivated team  
  • Proactively seek out formal and informal feedback from teams and the organization to understand broad themes and issues, and address issues arising
  • Actively pursue ways to improve performance by coaching and mentoring staff at the Senior Principal, Principal and Engagement Manager level in how to lead their teams
  • Ensure all team members have clear career pathways and annual goals and personal development objectives defined
  • Work with regional and global colleagues to operationalise and localise centrally-driven strategies

 

Essential qualifications

  • BSc in science, economics or a related discipline
  • PhD, MSc, or equivalent postgraduate qualification in economics, health economics, mathematics, health services research, medicine, pharmacy, pharmacology or a relevant related area, or health-related MBA
  • You must have the right to work and live in Qatar to qualify for this role

Essential experience

  • Experience of working at the leadership level with responsibility for leading business initiatives and teams in the healthcare sector. A mix of life sciences, payor and provider experience is preferred
  • Experience as a healthcare consultant or in a health or life sciences services provision environment to understand the nature of client/service provider relationships
  • Commercial awareness and thorough understanding of the healthcare industry at the global and local level. This will have been earned through working within the local hospital, pharma and insurance industries in Qatar.
  • Comfort with technology and advanced analytics based solutions at enterprise level within the healthcare sector
  • Numerate with good quantitative skills and competent in using Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to succinctly summarise complex situations or offerings to lay clients and senior management stakeholders

Essential personal skills and behaviours

  • Fluency in English and Arabic
  • The ability and inclination to take on a leadership role and to take the initiative in working situations generally
  • An ability to build strong business relationships
