Job Description: Project Manager/ Medical Affairs Global Scientific Communications Cambridge, MA:

Position Summary:

Client seeks a strong project manager to support the Global Scientific Communications team, whose primary mission is the generation and dissemination of scientific data to help HCPs make MS-related treatment decisions for their patients.

This role is accountable to ensure that projects are completed on time, overseeing all factors that affect the relevant Global Scientific Communications, Medical Affairs team.  This individual is responsible for communicating status with regular frequency while identifying and managing risks and issues. The ideal candidate is comfortable working within a large, matrix organization and has a strong ability to navigate complex business structures.  S/he is a strong multitasker.   This candidate will ensure cross-functional representation at core team meetings as well as various Medical Affairs’ programs as well as provide guidance to internal/external partners regarding business-related initiatives.

S/he will ensure program activities and tactics are executed according to established timelines and support the engagement of stakeholders, cross-functional alignment, and communication across medical affairs. 

Key Tasks and Deliverables:

Management of the Global Scientific Communications page of the Global MS Portal, including:

  • Upload of new materials, and creation and distribution of related “What’s New” communications
  • Monthly archival of expired/out-of-date materials
  • Maintenance of  backup copies of uploaded artifacts on the Sanofi Genzyme Shared Drive

Management of team budget, including:

  • Production and delivery of monthly and quarterly budget reports
  • Assistance with Forecast process

Management of Literature Alert process measured by:

  • Conveying agency-provided list of  journal article candidates for the Lit Alert to the MS Global Scientific Communications team lead for review and selection purposes
  • Retrieving content from a commercial third-party website for selected citations and conveying to agency partner responsible for composing the Literature Alerts
  • High-level QA review of Literature Alerts for content accuracy as well as general copy editing purposes
  • Sending out biweekly Literature Alerts to Global MS organization
  • Maintaining the Literature Alert email distribution list
  • Suggesting and developing process improvements with assistance of third party scientific communications agency

Management of Reference Requests, including:

  • Retrieval and distribution of journal articles from an external commercial website on an ad hoc basis as requested by vendor partners or internal parties

Management of Monthly Newsletter, including:

  • Providing Global Portal links for all articles referenced in newsletter
  • QA review of newsletter for content accuracy as well as general copy editing purposes
  • Project management to insure the newsletter review and feedback process occurs in a timely manner

Training team support measured by:

  • Support for planning and onsite delivery of MS Baseline training course for new Sanofi Genzyme employees

Management of MMRC process for AAN posters and platforms

  • Submit and track posters and platform presentations through ZINC/MMRC
  • Timely delivery of AAN poster book

Management of MMRC process for ECTRIMS posters and platforms

  • Submit and track posters and platform presentations through ZINC/MMRC
  • Timely delivery of ECTRIMS poster book

Management of Author Breakfast for ECTRIMS

  • Manage the author selection and invitation process, including MMRC approval of invitation letters on a country-by-country basis
  • Track author responses and convey attendee counts to site vendor
  • Record attendees on official sign-in sheets
  • Document Transfer of Value information through the Sanofi Genzyme Spend Management System

Monthly Distribution of the MS Global Scientific Communications Dashboard, including:

  • High-level QA of the dashboard
  • Composing and sending the email message conveying the Dashboard
  • Updating the email distribution as needed

Management of HCP Contracting Process, including:

  • Tracking and supporting inclusion of HCP contract in Annual Budget Plan
  • Tracking and supporting preparation of forms for Customer Determination and Business Rationale (CDBR) and Fair Market Value (FMV) process

Management of Quarterly Author Travel Reports for Transfer of Value Reporting Purposes

  • For Alemtuzumab purposes
  • For Teriflunomide purposes as well?
  • Other requirements TBD…

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree: Required
  • Previous budget management experience required
  • Project Management Institute (PMI) Certified Associate: Preferred
  • Medical Affairs experience is a plus
  • Congress project management a plus


  • Project leadership
  • Planning management and strong organizational skills
  • Expertise with project management tools and methodologies including MS Project and Agile
  • Capacity of juggling between multiple projects while having a clear overview of production calendar and projects state of progress
  • Facilitator and problem solver for teams and projects
  • Strong Communications skills
  • Full understanding of medical/legal/regulatory process for pharma approvals required
  • Ability to communicate and interface with all levels
  • Build and maintain strong and collaborative partnerships with internal and external parties. 

Location: Cambridge, MA / 4 days on site – minimal travel (potential of 10%)
