PURPOSE

The Clinical Research Coordinator for Oncology will operate all clinical research studies under the supervision of a variety of medical and surgical oncologist principal investigators. This individual will lead the charge in identifying potential subjects, obtaining consent, entering randomization data and coordinating with nursing, pharmacy, lab, oncology clinic staff and other departments for clinical trials. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervising and organizing the logistics for all research activities in the Cancer Center
  • Partner with oncologists and Research Center leaders to develop goals and strategies to attract studies and recruit subjects
  • Adopt corporate initiatives and serve as a change agent when necessary
  • As research volume increases, supervise other research coordinators
  • Maintaining the highest expertise in each protocol for compliance, standard operating procedures and applicable guidelines and regulations
  • Reviewing data and use financial tools (CTMS) for accuracy and integrity
  • Collecting and analyzing data on patient populations for seeking future studies
  • Monitor patient progress and manage risks
  • Scheduling and conducting site visits and audits
  • Data entry into ECRF’s
  • Maintenance of study and regulatory binders
  • Answering queries and sponsor and CRO communications

Job Requirements

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • In depth knowledge of clinical research regulatory requirements including Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and International Conference on Harmonization guidelines
  • Broad protocol and therapeutic knowledge
  • Strong understanding of the Clinical Research industry including drugs, diagnostics and devices
  • Ability to understand sponsor, CRO, investigator, subject, family, hospital and Research Center needs and appropriately influence decision making
  • Strong computer and software skills including MS Office applications
  • Basic knowledge of Project management practices and terminology
  • Ability to train staff in protocol related activities
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Work productively in a pressurized environment, managing competing priorities, maintaining a positive outlook, handling criticism well and learning from it


MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree in a health care or other scientific discipline with 5 years clinical research/monitoring experience; or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Extensive use of telephone and face-to-face communication requiring accurate perception of speech
  • Extensive use of keyboard requiring repetitive motion of fingers
  • Regular sitting for extended periods of time
  • May require occasional travel
