The IQVIA CORE Diabetes Model is the most used and published computer simulation model predicting the lifetime risk of patients with type 1 and type 2 diabetes developing complications relating to their condition. Alongside the prediction of clinical pathways, the model also calculates healthcare-related costs and quality of life. The model is widely used by the pharmaceutical industry as well as health care payers, health technology assessment groups and academia. An important part of the IQVIA Health Economic business is related to its internal application for consulting projects. In order to ensure that the model reflects available evidence and provides the best possible user experience it is continuously updated and upgraded.

Position Purpose

You will support in activities linked to the IQVIA CORE Diabetes Model, as well as other Health Economic and decision analytic modelling. A key aspect of the role will be developing the model technically using C++.

Principle Accountabilities:

  • Increase the technical knowledge with expertise in the Health Economics scientific area and build technical expertise in C++
  • Lead methodology research and conference presentations (abstracts, posters, podium presentations, manuscript writing)
  • Validate new methodology approaches
  • Identify and implement optimisations in order to improve user experience
  • In the long term support the construction of new models in other disease areas as business requirements dictate

Education, Experience, & Specialized Knowledge Required:

  • Background in quantitative field, such as mathematics, statistics or engineering
  • Knowledge or interest in in Health Economics (you will work closely with a team of Health Economists who can provide training as appropriate)
  • Strong knowledge of object oriented C++ environment and used C++ in a scientific setting
  • Experience of mathematic or decision analytic modelling; hands on experience in Health Economic specific modelling is an asset
  • Familiar with Agile work approach methodologies, experience with Git is a plus

  • You have an eye for detail and work accurately
  • Strong desire to learn new skills to meet business demands
  • Languages: English; other languages such as Dutch, French, Spanish are a plus
  • Technical skills aside C++: MS Office with Excel
