Role Description, Senior Healthcare Data Consultant

The purpose of this role is to work embedded within various hospitals liaising with key decision makers of the institution to facilitate the harnessing of complex systems to provide access to detailed healthcare data for research purposes. This is an important role within IQVIA, and will be front-and-centre in the development of a ground-breaking and high-profile new service. The role is multi-faceted, and requires a combination of deep understanding of the healthcare market and have a strong IT affinity, along with great interpersonal skills and an ability to get things done in an environment where there are many unknowns to be resolved, and within a sector where regulatory compliance is essential.

The individual will need to be capable of operating semi-autonomously.  You will have line management experience to co-ordinate the day-to-day activities of a Data Integration Engineer and a Healthcare Data Analyst, who will be responsible for conducting exploration of data gathered from disparate hospital information systems. 

The role of the Senior Healthcare Consultant:

  • Managing all relationships across a hospital to ensure a respectful and mutually-beneficial long-term partnership
  • Understanding the research objectives of IQVIA and communicating that understanding to data source owners and hospital stakeholders
  • Contextualizing that understanding into a defined data plan for Healthcare Data Analysts, Data Integration Engineers and other stakeholders. 
  • Have a good overall understanding of managing technical data driven projects. 
  • Co-ordinating with the data owners to ensure that all information governance processes are adhered to.

Your Expertise

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Completed university degree, preferably in a subject such as IT, business informatics, bioinformatics, information systems, computer science, life sciences, physics or engineering
  • Experience of developing credible relationships with senior level managers, hospital staff and clinical teams
  • Experience within healthcare IT more specifically with hospital systems and patient level data
  • Good foundation level understanding of data modelling, designing and implementing integrated data systems eg data warehouse, relational database management systems (RDBMS)
  • Good understanding of GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) and implementing systems which are compliant with GDPR. E-prescribing, EMR
  • Useful to have an understanding of the wider team perspectives eg Data Architects, Data Integration and Statisticians. 
  • Able to maintain high standards whilst managing projects and juggling priorities
  • Demonstrable analytical, interpretive and problem-solving skills in a structured methodological approach
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills including presentations, chairing meetings, workshop facilitation and report writing
