RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee the overall operations of the Vaccines’ business unit’s laboratory testing functions. Ensure that laboratory operations meet or exceed all applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure that the highest standards of quality and customer service are maintained. Collaborate with Quality Assurance
  • Staff on development and implementation of effective programs. Monitor proficiency testing programs as required;
  • Take corrective action promptly when results are unsatisfactory. Establish effective staff selection and training programs
  • to ensure that qualified staff are hired and continuously trained in order to remain current on testing procedures.
  • Keep abreast of new technical developments.  Implement new tests, equipment, programs/procedures in the department as needed.  Lead continuous improvement initiatives to increase quality of service and operational efficiency.
  • Act as the scientific expert for vaccine related testing both internally and externally.
  • Provide support to business development and the continued development to a competitive service offering by comparing Q Squared solutions capabilities with the market expectations.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of the department's operating budget. Establish standards for cost
  • control and waste reduction. Monitor utilization patterns of services and advise on developing trends in resource needs.
  • In collaboration with Marketing develop customer facing materials, white papers, and publications surrounding vaccines.
  • Foster a unified culture and facilitate collaboration, cooperation, sharing of information and teamwork. Lead initiatives to

  • Provide guidance and leadership to the functional management team in the development and implementation of the Vaccine business unit strategic and tactical initiatives, including measures to evaluate success.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • In depth knowledge of infectious disease and/or immunology as required to support vaccine trials.
  • Detailed knowledge of immunogenicity and efficacy tools used to assess vaccines.

MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Doctoral degree preferred in a health sciences field and 10 years relevant experience or equivalent educational experience in vaccinology, immunology or laboratory services.
  • Applicable certifications and licenses as required by country, state, and/or other regulatory bodies
